Dear applicant:

April 23, 2016, marks the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare, one of theworld’s most famous writers for the stage. To commemorate this date, faculty of both thetheatre and English programs at Grenfell Campus have designed Shakespeare 400, aspecial week of workshops, lectures, presentations and activities designed to get insidethe world of William Shakespeare, especially for high school students.

The Shakespeare 400 week will give you the chance to explore the plays, both throughacting exercises and presentations, see the work in an engaging adaptation of “Hamlet”and in a special staged reading. We’ll also explore the culture of Shakespeare’s worldthrough dance, music and food, and watch, and talk about, a few movies based on theplays of Shakespeare. You’ll get the chance to meet and interact with the actors, directors, and designers of Grenfell’s theatre program, and toss around ideas with professors fromour English program. All told, this is a unique opportunity to explore the works, andthe world, of Shakespeare in an exciting and interactive way.

We invite all interested students to apply for this special week of celebrations. If youhave any questions, please let us know by contacting thennessey@grenfell.mun.caor 709-637-6277.
