Degree Completion.

Bridges.

Hybrid programming.

Why Bother?

The academic rationale. Good students.

The economic rationale. ‘Backfill’ for attrition.

The quality assurance rationale. Richer classrooms.

Transfers

Main market is applicants who have completed a diploma who are then assessed for transfer credit.

Secondary market from applicants with incomplete post secondary qualifications who are also assessed for transfer credit.

All programs at University of Guelph-Humber.

Degree Completion

Applicants holding diploma qualifications but who are in the workforce.

Seek degree completion programming that enables them to stay in the workforce.

Justice Studies, Early Childhood Studies, Family and Community Social Services

Bridges

Applicants have completed a diploma, are assessed for credit, then engage in summer programming to lift credits so that they join regularly scheduled program.

Kinesiology at University of Guelph-Humber.

Hybrid Programming

A combination of short, intensive classroom programming, often ‘weekend warrior’ delivery supplemented by distance learning.

Access for early or mid-career learners who hold diploma qualification and now seek a degree.

Outcomes: Alumni Survey 2015

Employment

75% found employment in under six months.

41% had secured employment before graduation.

60% reported being at either a managerial or senior level position.

89% report “equally or more prepared for employment than colleagues”.

Transfers and Degree Completion

How do these students perform against traditional grade 12 entry students.

Our evidence is that they are equally as successful.

Lessons Learned

Some Strategic Lessons
