PHYSICAL SCIENCES: Chemistry Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 11 and 12 Prerequisites: Physical Science and Algebra & Geometry Recommended-concurrently taking
Algebra 2 Costs: Recommend a scientific calculator Meets Graduation Requirements for: Lab Science Chemistry would meets the one additional credit of algebra-based science required for college Description: Chemistry is the study of matter and how it combines and reacts. The use of the scientific method to investigate all types of matter is stressed in this class. Several observations and labs on chemical phenomenon will be expected of students to complete. Topics of the course include: properties of matter, atomic theory, use of the Periodic Table, bonding, chemical equations, gas laws, solutions and acid base reactions.
Forensic Science Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 11 and 12 Prerequisites: Physical Science Meets Graduation Requirements for: Lab Science Description: Are you a fan of CSI ,
and Criminal Minds to
name a few? The
advancement in
criminal investigations
is explosive and mind
boggling. The fact
remains that to solve
all the cases involves
using science and
technology. This
course will include
information on
deductive reasoning,
digital imaging, fingerprinting, paper
chromatography, blood splatter analysis, and other
impressions and prints. Basic science process skills
would be helpful to succeed in this class.
Physics Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 11 and 12 Prerequisites: Physical Science, Algebra I, Geometry,& Algebra 2* *Can be taken concurrently Meets Graduation Requirements for: Lab Science Physics would meets the one additional credit of algebra-based science required for college admission .
Description: Physics is a science that describes the
entire physical world using only a few fundamental
concepts. Through minds-on activities, hands-on
experiments, and demonstrations in an interactive
classroom, students will learn how to classify the wide
variety of phenomena around us within the framework
of the basic physical laws. Student will also connect
these laws to everyday life. All course assignments
are designed to develop expert problem-solving skills
and reinforce the application of mathematics skills.
Topics include measurement, kinematics, dynamics,
energy, and universal gravitation, formation of the
solar system, heat, light, electricity, basic electronics,
and magnetism.
Physical Science Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 9th Meets Graduation Requirements for: Physical Science
Description: Physical Science uses inquiry in a “hands-on way” to gain an understanding of matter and energy, and then applies that knowledge to solve human problems. Students will use writing, reading, and mathematics to investigate the properties, structures, and changes of physical systems. Explore the atomic nature of matter, chemical reactions, motion of objects, wave behavior, forces, and forms of energy that shape the world around us!

Ag Biology
Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 10, 11 and 12 Cost: $15.00 FFA fee is recommended Meets Graduation Requirement For: Lab Science, Occupational Education or Elective
Description: In this course, students study life science through the investigation of agriculture. Students explore all areas of biology including, the scientific method,
ecology, biochemistry, biological classification systems, cells, plant sciences, and animal science. Leadership opportunities are also presented to help students build career skills.
Biology Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 10, 11 and 12 Prerequisite: Physical Science Meets Graduation Requirements for: Lab Science
Description: This introduction to Biology uses inquiry to gain a scientific understanding of living systems, and then applies that knowledge to solve human problems. Students will use writing, reading, and mathematics to explore the characteristics, organization, and relationships of living organisms. Learn about the diversity of life by discovering the role of energy, cells, genetics, ecology, and technology! Honors Biology
Enrollment: Open to all 10th graders who want to experience a deeper understanding for Biology. Description: Take every concept learned in regular Biology and investigate the topic with a deeper, richer intellect.
Environmental Biology
Credit: 1.00 Duration: One Year Available for Grades: 10, 11 and 12 Cost: $15.00 FFA fee is recommended Meets Graduation Requirement For: Lab Science, Occupational Education or Elective
Description: This course will include: 1 quarter of basic concepts in Natural
Resources, 1 quarter of Forestry Biology, 1 quarter of Fisheries/Aquaculture, and 1 quarter Wildlife Management. Students will also work with local hatcheries (commercial & government), timber companies, and Fish and Wildlife agencies. Students will participate in Science Fair, Forestry, Natural Resources, Envirothon, and Logging Rodeos to hone their skills.
Forestry Technology & Adv. Environmental Biology Available for Grades: 11 & 12 Graduation Requirement: Occupational Education or Elective Description: This class is a work base experience with time beyond the school day as work is needed. Students work independently in the forestry industry learning environmental management, conservation techniques, and applied mathematics and recordkeeping. Students have the opportunity to earn a wage while involved with this work experience program. Christmas tree planting and trimming, reforestation, helicopter watch, and firewood sales are a few paid and non-paid work experiences. College Credit: Tech Prep College Credit available: NR 120, Natural Resources, (5 credits). Credits are provided through Grays Harbor College with completion a “B” or better.
