Naval Medical Center
The Armed Services YMCA coordinated aspecial visit at Naval Medical Center from theGeorgia Tech Glee Club. While on tour allthe way from Atlanta, they took time out of their schedule to bring cheer and entertain-
ment to the patients and staff at the hospi-tal. Their visit also coincided with the 102nd Navy Nurses Corps Birthday, and the GleeClub was honored to sing “Happy Birthday” to the deserving staff as they celebrated thismonumental event.
On May 10, the 5th Annual Duncan Hunter Golf Tournamentraised over $30,000 to support ASY Medical Center programsthat assist wounded, injured and ill along with their familymembers. Over 200 golfers, including both Duncan Hunter"senior and junior", participated. Thanks to our gracious sponsors and donors, including Cottonwood Golf Club who providedthe course and carts complimentary, as well as Sysco Foods,
Viejas, and T.B. Penick & Sons, all proceeds could benefit pa-
tients and their families. Joe Browning, tournament coordinatoalong with Daryl Idler, Cottonwood Golf Club Managing GeneraPartner, were the driving forces - thanks everyone!

Service Provider’s Conference Amano Football Camp
The Amano Family’s gracious invitation to militaryfamilies to join the recent Amano youth footballcamp was very well received. Over 30 kids took part in this full day camp.
KPBS shared a special screening of the documentary “This Emotional Life” with military families thismonth. San Diego ASYMCA Family Outreach Director
Amanda Cross took part in a panel following the
screening and answered questions and contributedto a discussion about the effects of deployments onfamilies, PTSD, and resources for families and chil-dren.
“I wanted to extend my gratitude to Mr. Amano and the Amano Family Foundation for including military families
in his football camp. My 10 year old son has alwaysbeen intimidated by playing football because he feltthat he was too small, so he was hesitant to attend
camp. However, when I picked him up at the end of the camp he was so excited that he still hasn't stoppedtalking about the great time he had! Thank you so very
much for giving him the opportunity to attend.”
Keep a look out for our Special EditionSNAPSHOT for the Military Appreciation
Day at the 2010 Cox CelebrityChampionship hosted by Drew Brees.
Representatives from several different agencies thatwork with military families gathered in late April for theannual Service Provider’s Conference to discuss avail-able resources and current military family needs. The
ASYMCA would like to extend a big thank you to Lincoln
Military Housing for providing the space and lunch!
