From the Desk of Executive Director Paul Steffens:

As you can see, June was a very active month around the San DiegoASYMCA everything from hiking, bungee jumping, golfing and fishing in

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Trips to Petco Park, participation in the Coro-nado Low Tide Ride and Stride, and free tickets to the San Diego Fairand .. the last session of the school year for military students participatingin Operation Hero..

We were most fortunate this year to be selected to be one of the non-profitbeneficiaries of the annual Stars and Stripes Fishing, Golf and Music festi- val in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Included in our representation at theevent were three members of our Board of Management and two staffmembers. We were also pleased to include two Wounded Warriors fromthe Naval Medical Center. It is noteworthy that the Wounded Warriorsset some benchmarksfor (1) hitting the longest tee shots in our four-some and for (2) landing a 200 pound Marlin in the catch and toss fishingtournament..

I want to take this time to express my personal appreciation, and that ofthe entire San Diego Armed Services YMCA team, to Captain Rick Wil-

liamson, Commanding Officer, Naval Base San Diego, for his outstandingsupport over the past three years. His heart is truly into doing all he canto assist our military service members and their families. As he departsSan Diego for duty in Washington, D.C., we wish him continued success.
