Extending 20 local and national competitions with Business Lounges.
Two (2) pan-European Open data Challenges
In these challenges, participants of the Business Lounges (and others) are stimulated to enter their app and
the corresponding business model / scenario.

Apps for EuropeBUSINESS LOUNGE
Develop and support implementation of a Business Lounge format that will increase the
number of projects moving from an app concept or prototype phase into a business start-up.
The Business Lounge is a programme for app developers to
1) assist these developers in the creation of a business model and resources,
2) provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge to present themselves to investors and
3) actually connect them with these investors: entrepreneurs, venture capital, social enterprise
and non-profit organisations.

Aggregate knowledge that is essential for hosting successful open data competitions.
- Recommendations on business and policy - Licensing guidelines for potential reusers + Licensing guidelines for data owners - Press Kit - Technical toolset for open data competitions - Guidelines for organisers of Apps challenges + Guidelines for data owners and data publishers. - Design template
The aggregation will be presented in the form of recommendations, how to’s or guidelines that will
be released under an open license to enable reuse and adaptation within and outside of the consortium
across all European Member states and beyond.

Apps for EuropePartner roles
● Contest partners, organising local and national app competitions and hosting Business Lounges developed within the Thematic Network;
● Data partners, providing access to relevant, EU wide scientific, governmental and cultural datasets and giving support to App developers;
● Business lounge partners, that develop the format for the Business Lounges, in which relevant business knowledge is provided and access to local
investors and incubators is granted;
● Support partners, which have extensive, practical knowledge on the design, use and impact of open data competitions on a local and national level.
The knowledge is refined and transferred to all challenge partners in the Thematic Network; furthermore it will be available for everybody under an
open license;
● Dissemination partners, that will ensure the outcomes of the Thematic Network will reach a wide audience with robust evidence of impact and
evaluate the success of the Business Lounge.
