Today’s show is devoted to the amazing story of Russell and Andrea Young, the creators of The OC Mart Mix. They are the creators of the OC Mart Mix a gathering of upscale, locally owned small businesses that have the opportunity to have a presence at a high end shopping area (South Coast Collection). Prior to opening the OC Mart Mix, Andrea worked as an executive at Microsoft. Once her and her husband started a family, she realized that she wanted to pursue her dream of being her own boss. With the support of her husband she opened a small stationary boutique with no experience but pure passion. The boutique was successful for several years but when the recession hit she realized that female entrepreneurs, like herself wouldn't be able to open their own businesses at popular shopping areas because of the high-rent. She sold her stationary store and decided to pursue her idea of opening an indoor high-end bazaar and called it the OC Mart Mix. At the OC Mart Mix the ambiance is very urban and raw (think reclaimed wood and clean modern lines) and the products sold are unique - there is nothing like it in Orange County.
