Wake County Public Libraries now lends eBooks on the Kindle! It's easy to do, here's how.

How to Check out eBooks from the Library on a Kindle

1) Start at Wake County Public Libraries homepage, www.wakegov.com/libraries. Select link “Download Library”.

2)Select “Find eBooks”

3) Select “All Fiction” under “eBook Fiction.”

4) Select “Kindle Book” from format filter.

5)Select “Available Now” to limit to currently available titles.

6) Select a title to check out.

7) Select “Borrow”.

8) Sign in with library card number and PIN. Select “Sign In”. (Tip: to avoid having to type out number each time, check “Remember my login information on this device”)

9) Select “Go to Bookshelf”.

10) Select “Download” then check “Kindle Book” and “Confirm & Download”.

11) Select “Get library book”. (Tip: If the publisher is Penguin*, at this point you will prompted to transfer via USB. In this case, skip to step 16)

*Penguin Publishers no longer allows their eBooks to be downloaded wirelessly

12) Sign in to your Amazon account. If you do not have an Amazon account, enter your email address and then check “No, I am a new customer”.

13) Select your Kindle from the dropdown menu, and click “Continue”.

14) If you have WiFi the eBook will begin downloading immediately (library eBooks do not work over 3G). If you don’t, select “Download now” to transfer via USB.

15) Connect your Kindle to your computer. Select “Save File” and “OK”.

16) Save the file to the “documents” folder on the Kindle. Select “Save”
