In Our Parish...

WELCOME THE STRANGER  We have become accustomed to seeing pictures in the media and stories on the news about immigrants from La n America and refugees from Syria fleeing vio‐lence and destruc on in their own countries, trying to make their way to a safe place. We have also seen the reac ons of people who want to keep them away from their countries, who fail to welcome the stranger and the helpless children. Have we forgo en Jesus’ call to com‐fort the homeless and the stranger? “They shall bring all your brothers and sisters from all the na ons . . . to Jeru‐salem, my holy mountain, says the L .” In the three readings for this day, we are told that we are to welcome these strangers, to welcome the disci‐pline of the Lord, which leads to peace, and to “strive to enter through the narrow gate” into the glory of God’s own homeland, the reign of God. age and how Christ himself is the embodiment and ful‐fillment of all wisdom. We will meet the first and third Tuesday of each month for 8 sessions beginning Tuesday, September 17th, from 6:30‐ 8 pm in the Ac vity Center.  Registra on is        REQUIRED. SIGN OF CONTRADICTION A VIDEO ON ST. FRANCIS OF ASSISI

Saturday, October 5th, 2019. DOORS OF SULLIVAN HALL OPEN AT 2:00 pm

Tickets: Not required, brought to you courtesy of Sacred Heart Parish and the St. Bonaventure Secular Franciscan

Fraternity. Join us, the popcorn will be free. Mark your calendar!

St. Francis is one of the most beloved saints in the world, but do we really know him? When the world saw him as a fool, he stood as a sign of contradic on. This new video presents St. Francis as a real person, not a characteriza‐

on of an animal‐loving saint from a distant me. Francis was a man who, like us, searched for pur‐pose and meaning and was o en mes le empty. It wasn’t un l he encountered Jesus Christ that his darkness and confusion were replaced with light and peace.

PARISHIONER SENIOR LUNCH
