- Founded in late 1970s by Nancy Hunt Weiman

- Weiman was a major advocate in getting synchronized swimming to become an Olympic sport

- Has a wide variety of age ranges on the team

- About 10-12 people on the team, organized into age groups

Team History

Strengths:- Self-Coaching

- Pre-Practice Process

- Sisterhood

Problems:- No Coach (self-managed team)

- Difficult to remove a swimmer from team

- Inconsistent team member attendance

Recommendation 1:Establish norms around attendance and swimming routines to perform in order to stay in sync

- Share with each other intrinsic motivations, personal goals and what you believe the team goals should be, and get a consensus on the team’s goals, and establish a norm

Recommendation 2 :Assign a team leader weekly

- Create guidelines for the role of the weekly coach to follow

Recommendation 3 :Create a system of learning for yourself and others

- Regular video playback on a screen larger than a phone

- Group feedback

- Framework for self-critique (I wish, I liked, I will work on)

- Pair up with another person to fix the problems

Recommendation 4:Improve the committee system

- Assign a rotating tiebreaker

- Reduce potential tension between team members

- Help make final decisions on issues or when committees are deadlocked
