– Good Resumes: Maximum 3 minutes otherwise put to the side• Source and identify qualified professional individuals (2 steps in

recruitment process) using keywords• Commonly use InMails to contact Job Seekers• May show as “anonymous” when viewing your profile• Systems such as GatherDocs integrate in LinkedIn to search your

profile for identifying you in their pool of candidates – i.e. will use an external Applicant Tracking System to look at your profile

complement skin tone)• Customize LinkedIn URL – no numbers, keep it simple • Languages – Indicate level (based on five options) of

• Cover Letter’s:– Avoid overusing “I” and state clearly how the company benefits from

hiring you and how you qualify for the position– Half a page – maximum two paragraphs– Use proper grammar/spelling

• Resume:– Top summary section - three sentences with maximum three bullet

points – languages and specific details to your field – Clean and simple - no invisible tables, no italics and no underscore

lines (drawn out). Underline each section and your job title or where you worked.

– Equal margins and spacing, 11 point for text and 12 section headers – Arial Font. Print your resume to double-check.

• Using Steps 1 and 2, companies will ask you to apply on their company website

• Separate Applicant Tracking System• More applicants outside of LinkedIn

• For external applications allocate two hours – depending on the ATS they use

• In this case, track on your own spreadsheet

– Group Jobs Section: Check for who in your network is connected to the job postings – some will re-direct you to apply on website while others will use LinkedIn

– Group Job Discussions: Read carefully and note down contact information – track separately on a spreadsheet
