Argos: Pros & ConsPros:•Clear iconography – an integrated proposition•Clear stock checker before adding to basket•Comparison of delivery time with stock available in nearest store•Clear basket page offering to buy online or reserve in-store•Lots of options to check another store if desired

Cons:•Only reserving at store, not actually buying

Asda

Asda: Pros & ConsPros:•When you get to it, the store finder is easy to use and offers a map at the bottom which is useful•Alphabetical list of stores which rearranges itself by location when a postcode is supplied

Cons:•No stock checker functionality on list or detail pages. This only appears in the basket section. Only link to stores list on the product detail page.

B&Q

B&Q: Pros & ConsPros:•Store collection option shown on the list page•List page and product detail page also offer ability to choose a default collection store before the checkout process

Cons:•In basket, cannot choose multiple store collections•Can only reserve in-store•Selected store for collection could be made more obvious in checkout

Comet

Comet: Pros & ConsPros:•List page has separate ‘Buy Online’ and ‘Collect from Store’ buttons•Very clear basket page, no clutter•Store selector appears in lightbox over basket page which is better than being taken away from that critical page•Checkout progress bar changes in accordance with your ‘...Online...’ or ‘Collect from Store’ choice

Cons:•Only nearest 3 stores displayed initially•Can only pay in-store when collecting

Jessops

Jessops: Pros & ConsPros:•List page shows store collection availability•Detail page has nice clear delivery option section on right hand side which includes a store availability finder•Simple, well laid out process in the basket section•Can split order into delivery and collection for multiple products

Cons:•No stock checking on list page•Store finder functionality on detail page doesn’t allow you to choose a default store to speed up the progress in the basket•Can only pay in-store when collecting

John Lewis

John Lewis: Pros & ConsPros:•Easy basket / checkout process with nice graphics•Can pay for click & collect items in checkout

Cons:•No stock availability checker•Can only make store selection on the basket page

PC World

PC World: Pros & ConsPros:•Collect@Store promotion banner on home page which leads to an easy explanation of the process•Integrated proposition for delivery and collection on list and product detail pages

Cons:•No stock availability check option before the basket page•Basket page refreshes for store selection process

Tesco

Tesco: Pros & ConsPros:•Home page has a strong main banner promoting store collection•Store selector page is informative with a store map display

Cons:•Quite messy design when selecting a collection store in the checkout section - not very clear layout compared with actual store selector page•Store selector takes you to another page away from checkout

Vanden Borre

Vanden Borre: Pros & ConsPros:•Detail page has separate ‘Buy Online’ and ‘Collect from Store’ buttons - icons on the buttons and green colour is also effective•Detail page has separate store availability locator, which is quick and easy to use•Stock availability for both web and collection shown in basket•Can select different stores for collection for each line item in basket•Can pay in checkout for items collected in store
