Consider these questions while watching:

What’s going on here?

What’s my response to it?

Ways people differ

Cultural norms of behaviour

Knowledge and experience

Intellect and ‘thinking style’

Personality

Emotional resilience and responses to pressure

Motivation

Values

Responses to pressure

Move towards people

Move away from people

Move against people

Personality differences

Sensing versus intuition

Sensing – pays attention to tangible data, real things in the real world

Intuition – takes ‘real things’ as a starting point but is more interested in abstract ideas

Thinking versus feeling

Thinking – likes to make objective decisions based on logic

Feeling – likes to make decisions based on what feels right

Some fundamentals

Assume others see the world differently from you

Accept that this doesn’t make them wrong

Be aware of the ‘fundamental attribution error’

Cultivate a knowledge and understanding of yourself

Look for common ground

Clarify expectations frequently
