What is Building Information Modelingg gBuilding Information Modeling (BIM) is the process of generating and

managing building data during its life cycle.g g g g y

Typically it uses three-dimensional, real-time, dynamic building modeling

software to increase productivity in building design and constructionsoftware to increase productivity in building design and construction.

The process produces the Building

Information Model, which

encompasses building geometry,

spatial relationships, geographic

information, and quantities and

properties of building componentsproperties of building components.

BIM SoftwareAutodesk is the world's largest manufacturer of CAD software and the makers of the popular CAD software AutoCAD. Autodesk's BIM products are the Revit line of products that include Revit Architecture, Revit Structure and Revit MEP. As well as their Revit line of applications they create the visualization programAs well as their Revit line of applications, they create the visualization program 3D Studio Max and the collaboration and clash detection program Navisworks.

Their Building software includes Bentley Architecture, Bentley Structural, Bentley Mechanical and Bentley Building Electrical Systems. In addition to their BIM applications they also have a programmable geometric engine as well as structural and energy analysis programs.

Graphisoft is the creator of the first architectural BIM software. Their
