In today's presentation we are going to continue the discussion on online marketing, with a look at the 7 steps you can take to rank your site at the top of google's search results.

Step 1: Set-Up Google Plus Page

Your Business’s Google + Page shows up in Google search and Google Maps

Step 2: Keyword Research

Keywords are what people type into Google when looking for your business.

(Use the free Google Adwords keyword tool here.)

Keep In Mind1. How would your customers search? No industry jargon. 2. In Google’s keyword tool select “exact” search. 3. Use “long tail” keywords (ie. brooklyn cosmetic dentist vs. NYC Dentist)

Step 3: Optimize Your Google Plus Page

• Rework the tagline and about us section of your Google Plus page so that they include your keywords.

• Also keep the keywords in mind when saving images, videos and the titles/descriptions.

Step 4: Optimize Your Website

• Business name, address and phone number with local area code have to be present on all pages.

• Try to include the above information and your keywords in your site’s title tags and meta descriptions. (Use the YOAST SEO plugin for this)

• Embed a Google Map on your “contact us” page.

Step 5: Get Structured Citations

Structured citations are when your business is listed in places such as business directories and internet

yellow pages. (Click here for a list of places to get structured citations)

Step 6: Get Unstructured Citations

Unstructured citations would be things like a mention of your business in a local newspaper article, press

release, online job board etc.(Click here and here for ideas on how to get unstructured citations)

Step 7: Get Reviews on Google Plus and Yelp

HOW?

1. Ask your customersfor reviews. 2. Ad links to your reviewpages from your website.

3. Include please give us a review links in your emails.4. Send out customerfeedback surveys and then ask for reviews from those who gave you high marks.

If you do these things you should be jumping to the top of google in no time!
