It is fun to learn about animals. Do you know what a dolphin eats? How long is an elephant’s lifespan.? In what habitat does a koala live? This unit is designed for grade three and will provide a fun opportunity to learn about animals and their habitats. At the completion of the unit, you will present your findings to the class.

You will need to choose two animals. These animals need to live in different habitats. Your animals must be approved by your teacher before starting. You will need to find facts about your animal and record them on the data form sheet. You will then make a poster with a photo picture of your animal along with a drawing of its habitat and interesting facts to show to the class.

The Process

First, you will be assigned a partner.

You will pick two animals that live in different habitats. The habitats to choose from are swamps, deserts, mountains, forests, arctic tundra, grasslands, ponds, and the ocean. These two animals must be approved by your teacher before you start your research.

You will work together using these internet sites and books to complete your search.
