Summer Review Packet

*Due on the First Day of School*

About Algebra 1:

You will be exploring linear functions, quadratic functions, and exponential

functions. In order to ensure you are properly prepared for these concepts, you will

need to complete some prealgebra practice over the summer. Everything in this

packet contains concepts you have already been taught. Additionally, you will be

expected to take and pass a pretest on the first day of school.

Algebra 1 is a high school credit course. Your final average in this course will be

reflected permanently on your high school transcript and is required in order to

graduate. Everything you do in class is a direct reflection of your grade.

You must take a pass the Algebra 1 EOC STAAR. This is an End of Course Exam

that is administered in May that covers all concepts taught in Algebra 1. In order to

receive a high school credit for this class, you must pass Algebra 1 and the EOC.

Technology recommendations:

I recommend investing in a TI-Nspire CX. They cost around $160, however

amazon.com has some pretty good deals. You are not required to own one, however

it will help to have one for homework and projects, and will be a device you will use

throughout high school. *A TI-Npsire will be provided to you for in-class use.


I recommend downloading the following apps:

Edmodo: I record a lot of my lessons and upload them to Edmodo, including

reviews for tests and the EOC. You will receive a class code on the first day of

school.

KatyOnTheGo: It is important that you keep up with your grades at all times.

This is an excellent app for all of your classes. You will need your HAC login

and password.

Evernote: If you like to take notes electronically, this is a great free app.

Skitch: Skitch works with Evernote. You can take pictures with Skitch and

take notes on the picture and upload it to Evernote and save it as your notes

for that lesson.
