Seeking Knowledge is a Duty of Every Muslim Man and Muslim Woman

Narrated by Ḥaḍrat Anas bin Mālik, Allāh be pleased with him: Said the Prophet of

Allāh (peace and blessings of Allāh be on him):

“It is the duty of every Muslim man and woman to seek knowledge.”

(Ibni Mājah) Explanatory Note

Since Islām is based on the certain knowledge revealed by God, in the shape of the final law, and advances its views with the sporting force of argument, it therefore very rightly lays extreme stress on the acquisition of knowledge. This is one of the many Aḥādīth by means of which the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allāh be on him) has enjoined on Muslims, both men and women, to acquire knowledge. He was so particular about it according to another Ḥadīth, he is reported to have commanded, “Seek knowledge even if you have to go to China for this purpose.”

The Photo-cards (Somebody got the photograph of the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Jamaat printed on Post Card and intended to sell the card to the people on them thus showing the picture of the Holy Founder to the addressees. When this matter was brought to the notice of Hazrat Aqdas, Huzur said): According to me, it is not good (to print the photographs like this). This is the first step towards innovation. When I allowed my photograph to be taken, the idea was that the European who are very far from us - and they can assess the character of a man by looking at his picture - should be shown this photograph so that they can be benefited by doing so; it would have been a spiritual gain for them. The photograph is such a thing that its being forbidden is not like the things that are unlawful (haram); he who can take a decision about this kind of affairs (the one who is a Mujtahid) can assess the value of the occasion and give permission for its use. The permission that I have given to use my photograph is based on the need of the Europeans. I have received some letters from Europe and America wherein it is mentioned that having seen the photograph they have arrived at the conclusion that this is just the same Messiah. The photograph, at times helps the physician diagnose the disease. So far as the Shariat is concerned it preserves all such things for a longer period of time as are useful to the people. The photographs that have been printed on the Post Card should not be purchased. Picture is the basis of idol worship. When a man has faith in some one he definitely gives more of respect to his photograph. One must guard against these things and stay away from them lest our Jamaat may become the victim of a calamity at the very initial stage. I have mentioned this fact in a book of mine that it is not permitted; this book is under print. I am very much annoyed with the members of the Jamaat who deal in this kind of things; God is also unhappy with them. Of course, if there is anything that can benefit the soul of a person, that would be an exceptional case. (A postcard with photograph was shown to the Holy Founder of the Jamaat. He remarked that this was not permitted). (Another person brought a bundle of postcards of this kind and showed it to Hazrat Aqdas and told him that he had bought these cards to sell. He asked as to what should he do to them. Hazrat Aqdas said:)

Burn them; destroy them. It tantamount to disgrace of the religion and disgrace of the Sharia. Do not keep them at home. They are of no use at all, rather, this kind of things lead to idol worship. Had you printed a sentence or two for preaching purpose, in place of this photograph, it would have been better for you. Distinction of an Ahmadi Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as) The Ahmadiyya Gazette, May - June 1993 The members of our Jamaat ought to show something distinctive in their day to day behaviors. If somebody, after accepting Bai'at, does not show any distinctive condition and persists in mistreating his wife and children and other people, even after submitting his pledge of "Bai'at", then what is the use of his "Bai'at"? It is very essential that one should demonstrate such an excellent example of dealing with one's family, relatives, neighbors, and even those who are opposed to him, that they should speak out with one voice that this person has completely changed after "Bai'at" and is no longer his old self. Remember it very well that if you pursue the activities of your inner selves, then the people will definitely look upon you with respect and honor. Take the example of the Holy Prophet may peace be on him). The people were so much impressed and overawed by the power of his noble moral character that once they suspected that the Holy Prophet was going to pray for their destruction. All the non-believers got together, came to the Holy Prophet, and begged of him not to pray for their destruction. A truthful person certainly commands respect and dignity among the people. If Ahmadis clean their inner faculties and pursue their normal life activities, surely, all the people around them will yield to the power and dignity of their noble character. The Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer is one form of congregational worship in Islam. It takes place every Friday. Regular attendance at the Jumu'ah prayer is enjoined on the believer. Seekers of Companionship of The Promised Messiah (as) May 4th, 2012 Hadhrat Mian Zahoor ud din sahib(ra): He relates that once he felt spontaneous urge to visit Qadian. He mentioned this to someone. He did not have any money to meet the travel expense. The person gave him Rupee 1 saying that was all they had. Mian sahib mentioned it to another person and he agreed to travel with him. They both travelled till Batala from where they walked to Qadian and were extremely gratified to meet the Promised Messiah(as). Hadhrat Ghulam Ghos sahib(ra): He relates that he had done his Bai’at through letter but in 1901 he went to Qadian to take Bai’at in person. Once in Qadian, he asked Maulwi Abdul Kareem sahib(ra) for a Wazifa (formulaic prayer or routine). He told him the Wazifa was to visit Qadian frequently. Hadhrat Sheikh Abdul Kareem sahib(ra): He relates that he became an Ahmadi in 1903 through someone who had come to Karachi. In 1904 he visited Lahore and when at the mosque for Friday Prayers he heard that the Promised Messiah(ra) was about to arrive. Hadhrat Sahib Din sahib(ra): He relates that it was probably in 1904 when he heard that the Promised Messiah(as) was coming to Lahore. He went to the railway station with others, having prepared a horse carriage for the Promised Messiah’s(as) transport. Hadhrat Choudhry Ghulam Rasool Basra sahib(ra): He relates that at the time of Jalsa of 1907 he heard that on Thursday the Promised Messiah(as) was going to go for an early morning walk. It was traditional at the time that when there was a crowd, a circle of hands used to be formed around the Promised Messiah(as). Choudhry sahib said to his friends that on the morning of the walk they should join the walk and if God enabled them, form a circle of hands around the Promised Messiah(as) so that they could have a close look at him.

Hadhrat Dr Abdullah sahib(ra): He relates that once he was about to travel to Qadian from Batala. An elderly blind person was also about the make the journey. Dr. sahib offered him a ride on his carriage as there was space, but the elderly person declined the offer and said he had the money to travel on his own. Hadhrat Malik Barkat ullah sahib(ra): He relates that he was informed via post in 1905 that the Promised Messiah(as) was travelling to Delhi and would pass a certain train station at a specific time. It was Malik sahib’s duty to inform the Jama’at. He and friends travelled 30 miles to reach the railway station. Hadhrat Munshi Qazi Mahboob Alam sahib(ra): He relates that during his adolescence when he was a student of class/year/grade 8, he used to listen to the discussions between Hanafi and Wahhabi Muslims. He would hear people refer to Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) as Kafir in the Wahhabi discussions, so he was inclined to find out for himself. Hadhrat Malik Ghulam Hussein sahib(ra): He relates that he did not have the money to travel to Qadian. He only had Rupees 2 on him. He travelled till Jhelum on foot and then felt he could carry on walking. Along the way he met some soldiers who had horses with them. He asked them to hand one horse to him but the soldiers said he was from the district of Gujrat and they feared he may steal their horses. Companions' ardent love for the Promised Messiah (as) May 11th, 2012 The Promised Messiah(as) said that when man loves God in the true sense, God too loves that person. Acceptance is disseminated for that person on the earth and his true love is put in thousands of hearts and he is granted a power of attraction. A light is bestowed to him which always remains with him. Hadhrat Allah Yar sahib(ra): He relates that owing to his deep devotional love for the Promised Messiah(as) he moved to Qadian and started his carpentry work. His savings were depleted and in order to make a living he started selling freshly made ‘halwa’ as a vendor. Hadhrat Malik Khan sahib(ra): He relates that he went to Qadian with Sahibzada Abdul Latif shaheed(ra) and perhaps it was the day after arriving there that he took Bai’at. It took place after Zuhr and first Sahibazada shaheed extended his hand and then Malik sahib. Hadhrat Shukr Elahi Ahmadi(ra): He relates about the time he was twelve or thirteen years old and completely unaware of religion. The Promised Messiah(as) used to come to attend a court case at a nearby place to where his school was. He would skip school and go and look at the blessed face of the Promised Messiah(as). Hadhrat Madad Khan sahib(ra): He relates that he had newly joined the army and it was his great wish to visit Qadian before starting his employment and to take Bai’at by hand as his initial Bai’at had been via letter. He feared that if he left for his employment he may not get a chance to see the Promised Messiah(as). Hadhrat Master Maula Bakhsh sahib(ra): He relates that once he came to visit Qadian in seasonal holidays. On his way out he did not want to go and sat in a field and sobbed and cried. He then returned to Qadian and returned after his seasonal holidays were over. Hadhrat Haji Musa sahib(ra): He relates that once his four year old son insisted that he wanted to hug the Promised Messiah(as). Such was his persistence that the next morning Musa sahib travelled with the little boy via train to Qadian.

Hadhrat Sheikh Zainul Abideen sahib(ra): He relates that his brother who was a student of class/grade 8 fell ill. When all hope for his recovery was lost the family took him to Qadian. The Promised Messiah(as) had had a revelation that he was to lead a child’s funeral Prayer and he had thought it was to be one of his own children. Hadhrat Sheikh Muhammad Ismail sahib(ra): He relates that when the Promised Messiah(as) stayed on after finishing Salat in Masjid Mubarak everyone would be elated. They eagerly looked forward to listening to matters of spiritual knowledge which would remove corrosions of their hearts. Death of Rasheeda Begum Sahiba and Nazar un Nisa Sahiba in Qadian, India. Salat and God-Consciousness May 18th, 2012 The objective of coming to Jalsa, as expounded by the Promised Messiah(as) is the same as the objective of the Bai’at. Man loses sight of the real objective, which is why God has enjoined to repeatedly exhort as exhortation impacts those who have faith. The Promised Messiah(as) said that the objective of Bai’at was to cool off the love of the world and to inculcate the love of God and His Prophet(saw) and to espouse such a condition that the journey to the Hereafter is not unpleasant. Man tries in every way to excel in the world, in terms of employment, trade, acquiring property, worldly education of children etc. Those who believe in God also pray to some extent for achieving these worldly objectives or ask others to pray. Among the dues of God, the most important is Salat. After belief in Him, God has ordained that the second significance is that of Salat. However, there is also a warning for some worshippers: ‘So woe to those who pray,’ (107:5) That is, those worshippers who offer their Salat devoid of Taqwa. A worldly person is much concerned about worldly matters and at times ruins his health in the process. When they do not get their desired results, depression overtakes some people. All this goes on for the worldly life in which one remains active for sixty to seventy years and afterwards is dependent on his children or others. We live in a society where a large number of people deny the existence of God and this world is considered everything. To stay firm on religion and to be ready to make sacrifices for religion is a big task in this society. Many people are lost in the razzle dazzle of this world. The Promised Messiah(as) said that man’s spiritual beauty is in adopting the delicate, fine ways of Taqwa. He said that all the limbs should take one towards piety and all the hidden capabilities should be used for the sake of God. Self-reflection should be done in the three days of Jalsa and promise should be made that from now on full effort will be made to discharge the right of God, the right of brother, the right of society and the right of this country which has given freedom. The Promised Messiah(as) wrote in his book ‘Haqiqat-ul-Wahi’ that God had foretold him and it is recorded in ‘Braheen Ahmadiyya’ that God would put his love in the hearts of people. The revelation came at a time when no one knew the Promised Messiah(as), yet God produced thousands who became his sincere and devoted followers. Hadhrat Hafiz Abdul Ali sahib(ra): He relates that he heard from Mir Muhammad Ismael sahib that when he was a medical student in Lahore the Promised Messiah(as) advised him not to stay alone in lodgings. Mir sahib made this a rule and always rented a house and shared it with another person. Hadhrat Malik Shadi Khan sahib(ra): He relates that before his Bai’at he visited Qadian. He had earrings on. The Promised Messiah(as) said Muslims [men] did not wear earrings and asked him to remove them. Shadi Khan sahib did as he was told and the Promised Messiah(as) told him that he now looked like a Muslim. Hadhrat Sheikh Zain ul Abideen sahib(ra): He relates that when Hafiz Hamid Ali came to Qadian he used to smoke hookah a lot. He used to go to a particular household to smoke hookah. When the Promised Messiah(as) came to know, he gave Hamid Ali sahib some money and asked him to get himself a hookah and said he should not go to that house to smoke [as it was bad company]. Hadhrat Ghulam Rasool Rajiki sahib(ra): He relates that once someone asked him to travel to Kapurthala to give series of dars (lesson) and also do some Tabligh work, but Rajiki sahib refused and said he wished to stay in Qadian. The person put it to him what if he asked the Promised Messiah(as) that Rajiki sahib should go with him and an instruction was given. Hadhrat Mian Sonay Khan sahib(ra): He relates that he saw many dreams relating to the Promised Messiah(as) but somehow he did not take Bai’at. In his dreams he was asked by holy men why he would not take Bai’at. Hadhrat Nizam Din sahib (ra): He relates a time when it was routine for all guests to gather in a specific room called ‘Gol Kamra’, a message would then be sent to the Promised Messiah(as) that everyone was present and he would arrive. Hadhrat Mian Sharafat Ahmad sahib(ra): He relates that Hadhrat Maulana Nur ud din(ra) always enjoined that visitors to Qadian should first go to see the Promised Messiah(as) and then come to see him. Fulfill your obligations to mankind June 1st, 2012 If we are progressive people, which indeed we are, then we should not shut our eyes to our shortcomings. Our efforts to reform should not be simply from a worldly perspective. We claim to have accepted the Imam of the age who was the greatest and most ardent devotee of the Holy Prophet(saw) on the face of this earth. It should always be remembered that in expounding the objectives of Jalsa, while the Promised Messiah(as) spoke of worship, Tabligh, Taqwa and many other aspects, he specifically mentioned paying the dues of people, in particular compassion for mankind. If genuine sympathy for mankind is generated, the fulfilment of dues of people is accomplished. Taqwa is perfected when the rights of parents, wives, husbands, children, friends and relatives are paid, when the rights of members of the Jama’at are paid, in fact when the rights of the enemy are paid. We come to the Jalsa for spiritual development and while we keep worship and remembrance of God in view here we should also pay attention to mutual love and friendship and sympathy. Among God’s creation the greatest is mankind, most eminent of all creation but man becomes a true human being when he tries to be advantageous to others. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih has drawn attention before that he always puts it to outsiders that it is an excellence of Islam that while worldly systems demand rights and when these rights are not met, force is used, Islam teaches to pay the dues of each other. Office-holders of the Jama’at also need to work with this spirit, otherwise they would be betraying the trusts given to them and will certainly be accountable before God for it. Office of Jama’at is not like worldly position, rather it requires application of greater sympathy and support for people. The Promised Messiah(as) said that repressing anger was the height of valour and the Holy Prophet(saw) said that a champion is one who controls his temper at time of anger. Indeed, one can only be just and fair if one can control one’s temper. This is a standard that all our office-holders should adopt. Today we have gathered to bring about pure changes in ourselves, thus there is a great need to pay heed to the teachings of the Holy Prophet(saw). Such was the degree of his humility that he used to pray: ‘O my Allah, I seek Your refuge from bad morals, bad practices and bad wishes.’ His was a perfect model yet he prayed in this way. Successful Tour of Holland and Germany June 8th, 2012 The Promised Messiah(as) explained in his book Baraheen e Ahmadiyya that in the verse ‘And will place those who follow thee above those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection’ (3:56) is a Divine promise with his Jama’at. He wrote in October 1902 that God’s promises are true and likened his own time to sowing of seed. God’s help and corroboration is with the Jama’at as pious-natured people are drawn to the Promised Messiah (as) and enter the Jama’at. People who do not even believe in the existence of God are compelled to opine that this Community is progressing by the day and its teaching is going to be triumphant. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih said whenever he goes on a trip abroad, he notices a renewed glory of the Promised Messiah(as) unfolded to the outsiders. In his recent trips to Holland and Germany, he met people of the Community as well as outsiders. As it is observed, the outsiders who come to the Jalsa take a positive influence. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih presented the beautiful teachings of Islam and the blessed model of the Holy Prophet (saw) in his address at the event. The local mayor and MP also addressed the event and spoke of religious tolerance. The Jalsa in Germany went very well. Each year at Jalsa time in Germany inaugurations of mosques also takes place. This year three mosques were inaugurated and foundation stone was laid for one mosque. The German Jama’at has taken on to invite dignitaries and educated fraternity at the inaugurations and foundation-laying. In Germany, Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih had the opportunity to give a lecture at a military organisation. Civil authorities are also affiliated with this organisation. They invite experts from various fields to deliver lectures and hold seminars. Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih gave a lecture on Islam’s teachings on loyalty to one’s country which was followed by a brief Q & A session. German Jalsa is always attended by Ahmadi and non-Ahmadi delegations from various countries. The largest delegation this year came from Bulgaria. They were quite impressed by the Jalsa proceedings. Each year new people come and are impressed by the Jalsa while it proves to open up the hearts of some. Even if a few were inconvenienced, the matter needs looking into. We cite the incident of the time of the Promised Messiah(as) when some guests arrived by the Langer and the workers in the Langer did not help them unload the carriage or something else transpired. The guests felt rebuffed and left.

Acceptance of Prayers June 15th, 2012 "If a person drinks a drop of water and claims that his great thirst has been slaked, he utters a falsehood. His claim would be established if he were to drink a bowl full of water. When prayer is offered in great tribulation so that the soul melts and flows at the threshold of the Divine, that is true prayer and it is God’s way that when such a prayer is offered, He accepts it or responds to it in some other manner. Promised Messiah(as) said Prayer is a wonderful thing. It is a pity that those who pray are not aware of the true manner of prayer, nor are they acquainted with the ways of the acceptance of prayer. The truth is that the very reality of prayer has become strange. There are some who deny the effectiveness of prayer altogether. Hadhrat Khalifa Nooruddin Sahib narrates that once, he was travelling on foot from Jammu to Kashmir via Gujrat. On his way, he had the opportunity to supplicate in earnest about his situation, mainly his finances. After that day, he was never pressed for money and was endowed with means from places where he least expected. Hadhrat Ameer Khan Sahib narrates that in 1915, his son Abdullah was afflicted with plague and within 2 days, the fever had rendered him so weak that when he returned from work, his son’s condition had deteriorated extensively. At that time, he was his only child. The mother could not watch her child suffer, so she asked the father to care for him. Babu Abdur Rehman Sahib was travelling along with Chaudhry Rustum Ali Sahib to Qadian on a horse carriage on an unpaved road. In Qadian, he performed bai’at at the hands of Promised Messiah(as) and returned home to Batala. Upon his return, his home was undergoing construction on the first floor, but before construction could begin on the upper level, he fell ill, so much so that his fever elevated to 104. Abdus Sattar Sahib, son of Abdullah Sahib, had a vision 3 days before the earthquake that resulted as the fulfilment of the Promised Messiah(as)’s prophecy that Huzoor(as) was seated in his house and he requested him to pray as the villagers were ill-treating them. With the narration of these incidents, the aspiration is to revive a person’s faith in the acceptance of prayer. These incidents were surely a source of strengthening of faith for the companions of the Promised Messiah(as). Therefore, we should also follow suit and make earnest efforts in supplicating the way supplications are supposed to be made. Huzoor(aba) also urged Ahmadi Muslims around the world to pray for world peace in face of the looming catastrophic wars the world is facing today. Huzoor(aba) informed viewers around the world that he is leaving for a tour for a few weeks and requested prayers for a successful tour also for jalsa USA and Canada.

Importance of Salat June 22nd, 2012 The purpose of the advent of the Promised Messiah(as) was to infuse a revolution in a person’s life such that the darkness which had accumulated over a period of almost 1400 years would transform into radiant light. Our forefathers brought about that revolution in their own lives and brought about transformations within themselves such that their words concurred with their practical actions. But the subsequent generations to follow are not setting the same standards for themselves. In USA, there is a large population of African American Ahmadis whose forefathers offered great sacrifices when they accepted Ahmadiyyat and transformed their lives significantly, but moving forward, there is a need to evaluate whether similar transformations are taking place. We must analyse whether or not there is a contradiction between our actions and our words. Salat should be offered in congregation, should be offered regularly, and should be offered on time. Allah Almighty says: Establish prayer and give Zakat and prostrate with those who bow before God. This verse emphasizes that offering prayer and making financial sacrifices take the best form when offered in congregation and as a community. By the sheer grace and mercy of Allah Almighty, there is a motivation in USA towards construction of mosques, but the benefit can only be derived when the mosques are utilized in their full right i.e. to populate them with those obedient servants of God who offer prayers in congregation. The Promised Messiah(as) said that a person who has not become an Ahmadi, and commits wrongdoings, then indeed he is a sinner, but the ones who have accepted Ahmadiyyat are even more accountable for their actions after performing the bai’at. Hudhur(aba) said that as Ahmadis, we must strive towards bringing about a spiritual transformation in our lives such that we can safeguard our own, our children’s and our society’s lives. Remember, our faith along will not become the means to attain salvation, nor will our faith suffice for that spiritual revolution within us. Every Ahmadi is expected to offer the most excellent form of salat. The Importance of salat should be understood by every Ahmadi, so that our Jama'at can demonstrate through practical actions and show the world that after coming into the bai’at of the Promised Messiah(as), we have undergone such pure transformations that have led us to God. Achieving God Consciousness the Purpose of Jalsa Salana June 29th, 2012 Hudhur(aba) said that the annual conventions held in different countries around the world were initially inaugurated by the Promised Messiah(as). The purpose of these conventions is that the participants gain the blessings that will lead them to a better life in this world and in the Hereafter. Among the duties and obligations towards Allah Almighty, the first and foremost is His worship, and among the acts of worship, the first and foremost is the performance of Salat. The Holy Prophet(saw) says that salat is the essence of worship. Hudhur(aba) said that the five salat are the fundamental requirement. We should also inculcate a habit of offering nawafil. Many of us will offer tahajjud prayers during the days of Jalsa, however we should make every effort to continue these efforts even after Jalsa is over.The weaknesses in our obligatory acts of worship are strengthened with the performance of nawafil prayers, and Tahajjud constitutes a major part of nawafil prayers. After the primary obligations towards Allah Almighty, a Momin must perform his duties towards his fellow brethren. Without making any mention of a person’s caste, creed, nationality, God Almighty and His Messenger(saw) have repeatedly reminded man of his duties towards fellow human beings. A Momin has even more rights over another Momin, therefore these must be performed. An Ahmadi, who performs bai’at, must understand his responsibilities. Worldly desires and priorities distance him from his pledge and his pledge becomes insignificant. During the days of Jalsa, every Ahmadi should evaluate his condition in this context. Khilafat is another promise that has been given to this community, therefore, we should strive to maintain the standards set forth by the Companions of the Holy Prophet(saw). One generation should instil the desire of submitting one’s will to that of Allah in the next generation. If this does not happen, then we will not be able to witness that community of righteous people as mentioned by the Promised Messiah(as). God promises that whoever gives precedence to the commandments of God above all else, then God removes his fears and anxieties. The Promised Messiah(as) says that we must not become content that we have become Ahmadi, but continue to strive and progress in our moral condition. The Promised Messiah(as) says that pledge of bai’at should instil a new life in an individual such that it transforms him/her completely. He should remain steadfast in face of any opposition. He must not feel that trials are difficult, but in fact he should consider them an opportunity to gain the pleasure of God.

News from Majalis Majlis Baitul Huda In May, Majlis Baitul Huda continued their Tabligh efforts by organizing two separate peace pamphlet distributions. Allhumdullah total 350 pamphlets were distributed by 4 khuddam over 2 weekends. Majlis Baitul Huda has hosted the Taleem, Tarbiyaat and Sports Day for all Sydney Majalis on the 13th of May 2012. An Amila meeting was held on the 6th of May to discuss and plan for the event. A number of Khuddam sacrificed their time and put a lot of effort in cleaning the mosque before the event, making sure the event ran smoothly and then ensuring that everything was cleaned after the event. Cooking lunch for all the attendees was also the Majlis’ duty and the cooking team led by Barkaat Ahmed and Mumtaz Sethi did an outstanding job with all the Khuddam and Atfal thoroughly enjoying the delicious chicken korma. Majlis Baitul Huda had the maximum attendance of all Sydney Majalis with 24 Khuddam attending. The Majlis Meeting for the month was held a bit late on the 2nd of June, where focus was again laid on the importance of 5 daily prayers. Majlis Al-Noor In June, Majlis Al-Noor has arranged visits to individual khuddam to motivate them to come for congregation prayers and to be more involved in other jamat activities. Alhamdulilah, Quaid sahib and Zuma have visited various khuddam who previously were not attending Majlis programs. To achieve our maximum target they maintained the active Namaz centre located at 1 Lonsdale Street, St Marys. At this centre Majlis Khuddam, Atfal and on occasions respected Sadr Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya Australia and some Ansaar brothers offer Magrhib and Isha prayers. They always push Khuddam to make maximum attendance and Alhamdulilah, They had good numbers of Khuddam who prayed in congregation this month. Majlis Al-Noor also hold a Talimi and Tarbiyati Dars after namaz on a daily basis. Alhamdulilah, They had a very successful general meeting this month where 37 Khuddam attended. In the meeting Quaid sahib emphasized on 5 daily prayers with reference to the Holy Quran, Hadith and beloved Hazoor's (atba) Friday Sermons.

Snowy Mountain Trip Alhamdulilah in the middle of Khuddamul Ahmadiyya year, the three Sydney Majalis arranged a very exciting trip to Perisher Valley in the “Snowy Mountians” located around 500km drive from Sydney.

The preparation started one month prior to this trip. As this was a Sydney event Mohtamim Muqami Mr.Sharfraz Rahim sb coordinated the attendance with various Sydney Majalis. We are extremely grateful to Sadr Saheb, MKAA who assigned various duties to Khuddam including transport hire,, Langar khana and other Tarbiyati responsibilities. The main objective of this trip is to bring our Khuddam together and strengthen the relationships and friendships between our brothers. By the grace of Allah, members reached at allocated place at Masjid Baitul Huda where we started our journey on two buses to Snowy Mountain early Sunday morning 3am following a silent prayer and some important instructions from Sadr sb MKA Australia. Alhamdulilah a total of 46 members joined on the trip which included 34 Khuddam, 10 Atfal and 2 Ansar (including former Sadr MKAA Firoz Ali saheb and Daar saheb) went on this trip. Around 10 Khuddam managed various shobajat including Langar khana, tarbiyat , and transport to make this event successful. Alhamulilah it was a great trip enjoyed by everyone. To add to the excitement, it was actually snowing at the site. We all had fun with the Toboggan. We offered our five obligatory prayer in congregation during the journey. By the grace of Allah, we reached home safely around 12.30am after a very long and tiring (not forgetting the fun times we had) 22 hours trip. Multicultural festival in Canberra Alhumdullah, In February, Majlis ACT had coordinated with Jama’at Ahmadiyya Canberra to organize Qur’an and book stall at Multicultural festival in Canberra. They had book stall for two days on 11th, 12th of February 2012. Nazim sahib Tabligh - Majlis ACT, Shaheed Sahu Khan Sahib, was coordinating the entire program with Sadr sahib Jama’at Canberra and Qaid sahib ACT. Approximately 150 pamphlets were distributed to general public. Quran with various translations were also shown on the stall. Alhumdulla they have sold 4 copies of Quran to the public. On both days, total 8 khudam served duties at different hours. Trip to Batesman Bay Majlis ACT had their annual picnic on 25th Feb 2012. They went to Batesman Bay. 8 Khudam, 3 Ansaar, and 3 Atfal had joined the event. Lunch and refreshments were provided by Majlis ACT. Khuddam did fishing and also played friendly volley ball at the beach. After all the friendly activities, Zuhar and Asar prayers were offered at Brother Hafiz sahib’s house. There was a short meeting and Tarbiyati Ijlas after prayers. Evening tea was served by Majlis ACT and program concluded on silent prayer. Jalsa Musleh Maud with Jama’at ACT Majlis ACT also had their combined Jalsa Musleh Maud with Jammat ACT on 26th February 2012. 10 Khudam and 3 Atfal participated in the Jalsa. It was approximately one hour. Light refreshments were served by Jama’at ACT. Program concluded at Asar prayer.

Majlis Al-Noor Celebrates 'Alm-e-Inami' Award (Barakallahulakum) By the grace of Almighty Allah, Majlis Al-Noor was awarded for 'Alm-e-Inami' for the year of 2010-2011. Traditionally this is announced on the occasion of National Ijtima of Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Australia (MKAA) and award giving ceremony occurs at the eve of Jalsa Salana (Annual Convention) of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Australia. The Urdu word 'Alm' means flag and 'Inami' means prize. Generally a local majlis (branch) of MKAA is awarded the 'Lawa e Khuddamul Ahmadiyya' (Flag of MKA) every khuddam financial year (1 November- 31 October) for their outstanding activities. A BBQ was arranged to celebrate the honorable achievement of “Alm-e-Inami” by Majlis Al-Noor (Sydney). Respected Ameer sahib, Sadar Sahib MKAA, Mutmim Muqami sahib and other

honorable guests including Qaideen of Sydney Majlais with their amila and also National Amila members were invited. This ceremony was presided by Mr Ejaz Ahmad Rana, Sadr MKAA. This event was a real honour as it was the first time members of Majlis Al-Noor were blessed with the presence of all above mentioned personalities.
