The Way to Attain Purity is Through Prayer

Offered in True Humility of Spirit

2

Listen, O those who can, to what God desires from you. And what He desires is only

that you become solely His and do not associate any partners with Him, neither in the

heavens nor on the earth. Our God is that God who is alive even now as He was alive

before. He speaks even now as He used to speak before. And even now He hears as He

used to hear earlier. It is a false notion that in these times He does hear but does not

speak. But He hears and speaks, too. All His Attributes are eternal and everlasting.

None of His Attributes is in abeyance, nor will it ever be. He is the One without any

associate Who has no son, nor has He any wife. He alone is the peerless Who has no

one like Him. And He is the One Who is unique in that none of His Attributes are

exclusively possessed by anyone besides Him. He is the One Who has no equal. He is

the One Who has no one to share with Him His Attributes. And He is the One no Power

of Whose is less than perfect. He is near, though He is far and He is far, though He is

near.

He can reveal Himself to Ahl-e-Kashf in personification, but He has no body, nor any

shape. He is above all, but it cannot be said that there is anything beneath Him. He is

on 'Arsh, but it can't be said that He is not on the earth. He is the sum total of all

Perfect Attributes and He is the Manifestation of every True Praise. He is the source

of all that is Good and encompasses all Powers and He is the source of all

Beneficences. He is the One to Whom everything returns. He is the Lord of all

realms. He possesses every Perfection and is free from all defects, imperfections and

weakness. It is His sole prerogative that all those who belong to the earth as well as

all those who belong to the heavens should worship Him.

As far as He is concerned nothing is impossible for Him. All souls and their

potentialities, and all particles and their potentials are His and only His creation.

Nothing comes into existence without His agency. As for Him He reveals Himself

through His Powers, His Omnipotence and His Signs. We can attain Him only through

Him. He always reveals His Person to the righteous and shows them His

Omnipotence—and this is the only means by which He is recognized and by which

that way is recognized which is favoured by Him. He sees without physical eyes and

hears without physical ears and speaks without a physical tongue. Likewise it is His

work to bring a thing into existence from nothingness.

For example, in the visions of dream you see how He creates a world without matter

and shows you every mortal and nonexistent being as having existence. Thus are all

His Powers. Ignorant is he who denies His Powers. Blind is he who has no knowledge

of His profound and inconceivable Powers. He can, and does, everything that He

intends to, except those things which violate His Majesty or which are in conflict

with His Promises and Verdicts. He is unique in His Being, in His Attributes, in His

Actions and in His Powers.

All doors to reach Him are closed except the one door which the Noble Qur'an has

opened. And all Prophethoods and all Books of the past are such as now there is no

need left to follow them independently. Because the Prophethood of Muhammad

(sa) comprises them all and encompasses them all. And except it [the Prophethood

of Muhammad (as) ] all routes to God are closed. Each and every truth which leads

to God is in it alone. Neither any truth will come after this, nor there was a truth

which is not present in it. And for this reason all Prophethoods have ended with this

Prophethood. And so it should have been: for a thing which has a beginning must

also have an end. But this Prophethood of Muhammad (sa) in its intrinsic

beneficence is not deficient. Rather its beneficence far surpasses the beneficence of

Friday Sermon

The Jumu'ah (Friday) prayer is one form of congregational worship in Islam. It

takes place every Friday. Regular attendance at the Jumu'ah prayer is enjoined

on the believer. According to a Saying of Muhammad sa this congregational

prayer is twenty-five times more blessed than worship performed alone.

We encourage members to read Huzurs Friday sermons which can be found at:

http://www.alislam.org/archives/

For your benefit we have published below, a gist of Huzurs Friday Sermon

delivered on 26th

Febraury 2010.

Financial

responsibilities

towards

orphans

Maturity: Hudhur (aba) explained that the verse illustrates

that both physical and mental maturity of orphans should

be assessed.

Affairs: Orphan’s rightful property should be given to him

only when he has achieved the maturity to handle his

financial affairs till then he should be given spending money.

Financial training: Orphans should be given monetary

training.

Guidelines

about orphan’s

property

Those who are in-charge of the orphans do not have a free

reign in spending the funds left by the parents. It should all

be fully accounted for and handed over to orphans upon

reaching adulthood.

A further safeguard has been put in place to prevent any

arrogation of orphan’s inheritance in the

term ‘falyasta’fif’ (let him abstain).

However, if the person in-charge does not have the means

to support the orphan, for his upbringing he may spend out

of the property/funds left by the parents.

This should be done with utmost diligence and all accounts

should be recorded.

Even the thought of taking something from the property of

the orphan should be shaken off as a satanic thought.

Hudhur (aba)

mentioned the

Hadith

Relating Hadith Hudhur said a man asked the Holy Prophet

(peace and blessings of Allah be on him) that he did not

have any funds but he was the carer of an orphan.

He was enjoined that he should use from the orphan’s

inheritance neither being spendthrift nor niggardly, neither

should he use the orphan’s inheritance to enhance his own

property nor should he use the orphan’s money to save his

own.

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him)

said that if one spends on an orphan while being well-off or

spends while not being well-off, when the orphan reaches

adulthood and wisdom he should be returned the money

with full accounts. But it is better if the orphan’s inheritance

is invested in business and is enhanced.

Hudhur (aba) said if a person of limited means cares for an

orphan, he has to give an account of every penny spent out

of his inheritance in presence of witnesses. Hudhur (aba)

said this safeguard is put in place to dispel any suspicion of

financial mismanagement.

Hudhur said this verse enjoins seven fundamental aspects of

taking care of orphans: Hudhur (aba) said this would save

the carer from any trouble and the orphan from

entertaining any ill-thoughts.

Test the understanding of the orphans, that is, pay attention

to their education and training

The attention to their education and training should

continue till they attain adulthood.

When they are capable of looking after their property, it

should be promptly returned to them.

The inheritance of an orphan should only be spent on him.

It is certainly not warrantable for a well-off person to take

from the orphan’s inheritance for his upbringing.

Page 6: Al Masroor March 2010

When made a carer of an orphan, a person of meagre means has permission

to take appropriate expenses from the orphan’s inheritance

When his property is returned to an orphan, witnesses should be called, so

that neither the intention of the carer slips nor the orphan harbours any

suspicion.

The verse concludes on the reminder that God is watching over all the time

and everyone will be called to account.

 Chapter 17, Verse 35

ى يبلغ ان العھد كان مســو واوفوا بالعھد % اشده و تقربوا مال اليتيم ا بالتى ھى احسن حت And come not near the property of the orphan, except in the best way, until

he attains his maturity, and fulfil the covenant; for the covenant shall be

questioned about.

Hadhrat Musleh Maud (may Allah be pleased with him) elucidated that this

covenant is in fact the responsibility of the upbringing, nurturing of the

orphan and safeguarding his property. It is an obligation on people as well

society.

Hudhur (aba) said this is not a favour on the orphans; rather it is the

obligation of an Islamic society and it is the right of an orphan.

As God has placed this obligation on Muslims and in their capacity as

believers He takes a covenant from them that if they do not fulfil their

obligation He will hold them accountable.

 Chapter 4, Verse 3

ى اموالھم ا اموالھم و % و تتبدلوا الخبيث بالطيب واتوا اليتم كبير حوبا انه كان الى اموالكم تاكلو

And give to the orphans their property and exchange not the bad for the

good, and devour not their property with your own. Surely, it is a great sin.

Hudhur (aba) said here too the same subject is repeated. If one was to mix an

orphan’s property with one’s own property for gain then one’s pure earning

will become haram (forbidden) due to the ill-intention and earning property

that is haram is a grievous sin.

 Chapter 4, Verse 11

وسيصلون سعير اليتمى ظلما انما ياكلون فى بطونھم نارا اموال ان الذين ياكلون

Surely, they who devour the property of orphans unjustly, only swallow fire

into their bellies, and they shall burn in a blazing fire.

Hudhur (aba) said thus is the teaching of Islam. It safeguards the

disadvantaged in life with great intensity.

 Chapter 4, Verse 10

ية ضعفا خافوا عليھم وليقولوا قو سديدا%وليخش الذين لو تركوا من خلفھم ذر فليتقوا هللا

And let those fear God who, if they should leave behind them their own weak

offspring, would be anxious for them. Let them, therefore, fear Allah and let

them say the right word.

Hudhur (aba) said that orphans should not be spoilt either.

The objective is to bring orphans up in a manner that they become the best

part of society. Orphans can lose their potential due to inferiority complex.

They should be brought up in a manner that they become the best in

society.

Their upbringing should neither be too strict nor too lenient; it should be like

one brings up one’s own children.

The right of an orphan is the same as that of a child with parental support.

 (Chapter 2: Verse 221).

Upon this world and the next. And they ask thee concerning the orphans.

Say: ‘Promotion of their welfare is an act of great goodness. And if you

intermix with them, they are your brethren. And Allah knows the mischief-

maker from the reformer. And if Allah had so willed, He would have put you

to hardship. Surely, Allah is Mighty, Wise.’

The Quranic verse does not merely signify commandment about an orphan

with inheritance, rather it denotes orphans of all social standing.

A Hadith relates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on

him) said, ‘a person who puts a compassionate hand on the head of an

orphan boy or girl merely for the sake of God will be rewarded with virtues in

exchange of every single hair on the head on which his sympathetic hand was

placed. A person who treats an orphan boy or girl with kindness and favour

will be with me in Paradise like these two’, and the Prophet (peace and

blessings of Allah be on him) indicated to his two joined fingers.

Thus is the status of one looking after an orphan. God has given him the glad-

tiding of Paradise. The Companions of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings

of Allah be on him) used to strive with each other to look after orphans.

By citing ‘And if you intermix with them, they are your brethren…’ the verse

signifies the carer as an older brother of the kind who honours his dues.

Hence the instruction is to help them very well and in a most self-less

manner.

God reminds us that He is present everywhere, thus letting us know that He

knows full well who creates disorder and who brings about peace. One’s

deportment with the orphans should be to make them the best among

society.

It is God’s grace that those with limited means have been given permission to

spend out of the inheritance of an orphan for his/her upbringing.

However, if neither the carer nor the orphan has any means then the

administration and management of the community should be contacted. The

objective is not to put anyone in difficulty.

 Chapter 89, Verse 18

Iاليتيم بل تكرمون ك

Nay, but you honour not the orphan,

The Qur’an also states: ‘That is the one who drives away the orphan,’ (107:3).

Hudhur said that not looking after orphans is an evil which is indicative of the

decline of a society.

It is very important to try extremely hard to eradicate this wickedness in

order to create a good society. By not honouring the dues of orphans, a

community loses its sense of sacrifice and it deprives the orphans from

progressing.

 Hudhur (aba) mentioned the Hadith

A Hadith relates that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on

him) said a person who cares for three orphans is like one who

offers Tahajjud at night, keeps fasts and does Jihad in the cause of God. They

will both be like brothers in Paradise and the Prophet indicated to his

forefinger and his middle finger joined.

يتيما يطعمون الطعام على حبه مسكينا اسيرا و و

And they feed, for love of Him, the poor, the orphan, and the prisoner,

The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him) also said that

Paradise is certain for one who regularly includes an orphan of Muslim

parents in his meals, unless he is embroiled in a sin that cannot be forgiven.

The Tehrik

for Yatama

Hudhur (aba) expressed gratitude that the Yatama scheme

inaugurated by the Hadhrat Khalifatul Masih IV (may Allah

have mercy on him) in 1989, as a mark of thankfulness of the

Ahmadiyya Centenary has grown immensely.

We heard the Divine commandments as well as ahadith

regarding care of the orphans and realise the significance of

the matter. Currently, 2700 orphans belonging to 500 families

are being looked after in Pakistan under this scheme.

The monthly expense of this is between 2, 500,000 to

3,000,000 Rupees. The funds are spent most carefully on

food, education, medical treatment, marriage of young

women and maintenance of any property the orphans may

have.

The expenses are vast and it is felt that there is an extreme

need in this fund.

Tehrik for

orphans

Therefore today Hudhur made a Tehrik to all the Pakistani

Ahmadis who live in USA, Canada, Europe and the UK to

participate in this scheme.

Hudhur said he has estimated that if each person of Ahmadi

households of the UK, Europe, Canada and USA paid £7 to

£10 per head annually towards this scheme a huge burden of

the Yatama scheme can be met.

Those who are well-off can give more. Generally the help

and support given to the orphans is around 1000 to 3000

Rupee per month.

£10 per year is a meager amount for people living here, however, it can play a huge role in making the future of many orphans bright.

Hudhur

(aba) prayed

May God enable us to fulfil the rights of the disadvantaged in the society to the best of our ability

May we always be those who seek God’s pleasure.

An Important Message from Hudhur (atba) for

Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Australia Report by Ataul Awal Nasir Ahmad, Mohtamim Taleem

In reply to Hudhur (atba) letter, an urgent program was scheduled for Saturday 13th

February 2010 at Masjid Baitul Huda. Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Sydney was called to

attend this vital program to be told of the message from our beloved Hudhur (atba).

The program began at 7.15pm with dinner after which Khuddam made their way to Maghrib

and Isha namaz. The program began with Tilawat-e-Quran by Brother Harris Khan, followed

by the Khuddam Pledge, and Nazm by brother Imran Chandio.

Then Hudhur (atba) letter was read out in English by Brother Sharfraz Rahim and in urdu by

Brother Usman Mahmood. The letter outlined two key areas that Majlis Khuddamul

Ahmadiyya need significant improvement, namely Tabligh and Tarbiyyat. Hudhur (atba)

stressed that more work is to be done in this regard.

There were two key speeches delivered on the topics The Essence and Importance of Prayer

and The importance of Tabligh. Brother Ataul Awal Nasir Ahmad delivered a speech on

Prayer that outlined that Prayer is one of the Five pillars of Islam and therefore acts as key

to successful life. The speech also outlined that it is important to establish excellent Prayer

habits from a young age and that it is the responsibility of all Khuddam to establish this in

their homes. Brother Ataul also stated that in a world where spirituality is deemed lower in

comparison to the worldly elevation of man it is through Prayer that we can retain ourselves

from the sinful ways. The speech also detailed out some key Quranic verses and Hadith that

express the need and importance of praying.

Next, Brother Imran Ahsan Karim delivered a speech on Tabligh. He outlined, through a

poem by a famous poet Maulana Altaf Hussain Hali in the time of the Promised Messiah (as)

who wrote on the state of Muslims at the time. He wrote that Muslims are in a poor state,

their morality weak and their practice of faith not very high. The poem then states the

words of the Promised Messiah and his love of Islam are the only light and hope the world

has and in particular Muslims. Brother Imran also expressed the importance of the prophecy

‘I shall cause Thy Message to reach the corners of the Earth’ and that Australia being a

corner of this Earth, it is essential for Khuddam here to take this more seriously and to

follow the noble example of Hadhrat Sufi Hassan Moosa Khan Sahib the first Ahmadi in

Australia who brought the flag of Ahmadiyyat here. He should serve as an inspiration to all

of us. The speech also mentioned the need for Khuddam to actively participate in bookstalls,

learn from the experience and use the experience to help them in spreading Allah’s religion.

The concluding address was given by Sadr Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Rana Ejaz Ahmad

Sahib. Sadr Sahib urged all Khuddam to take Hudhur’s (atba) message seriously and take it

upon themselves to rectify themselves in these areas and to make better efforts. The

program concluded with silent prayer.

and Amila's efforts we have successfully started our Majlis Al Noor Namaz Centre located at

with congregational Namaz-e-Tahajud at our new Namaz Centre on 19th feb 2010. In the

beginning we offered 2 congregational Namaz only 3 days a week but from last week we

have started to offer Namaz-e-Magrib & Isha with jamat on a daily basis! Alhamdulillah we

amala meeting and sports day on 2nd Feb 2010.Khudam played volley ball together. After

the game we had our amala meeting and discussed few issues directed by the national

Majlis Khudamul Ahmadiyya.

We also had our congregational Fajr prayer and Darse-Quaran on 21st Feb at Griffin

Centre.Majlis ACT had their Picnic to Mount Kosciuszko (It is the highest peak of

Australia.Majlis ACT khudams are the first Ahmadies and khadims who summit the

mountain) on the same day after prayer and dars. Please see separate report and pictures

about the trip in the magzine.

MESSAGE OF ONE GOD AND HOLY PROPHET

(P.B.U.H) AT HIGHEST PEAK OF AUSTRALIA.

ACT KHUDDAM CONQUER KOSZIUSKO.

(By Shaheed Sahu Khan , Naib Qaid Majlis ACT)

By the Grace of Allah All Mighty, members of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya ACT were

given the opportunity to be the first ahmadies to reach the summit of Mount Kosziusko,

Australia’s highest peak, on 21st February 2010.

Mount Kosziusko is one of the biggest attractions of the Kosziusko National Park, which is

part of the Australian Alps. Standing at 2228m Mount Kosziusko is Australia’s highest

peak. However it is one of the smaller ones on the world stage. The summit itself is

accessed via a 6.5km walk from the top of the chairlift on Mount Crackenback. The

chairlift can be taken from the Thredbo village.

Four fortunate khuddam(Ata –Ur- Rehman ,Shaheed Sahu Khan,Rahimat Ali,Kamran

Ahmed) took part in this historic trip. The day began with congregational Fajr prayers

being offered at Griffin Centre. We then had a short breakfast and drove to Ata-ur

Rahman’s residence. From here, we travelled in Ata sahibs’ vehicle at his kind request.

Jazakamulah! The drive to Thredbo village took approx 3 hours and on the way we

witnessed some magnificent scenery. Lake Jindabyne and the surrounding areas were

very picturesque. We arrived at Thredbo village at around 9:30am and did a silent prayer

in the car. From here we prepared for our trek to the summit. Qaid sahib Kamran Ahmad

had prepared us some sandwiches which we packed into our backpacks. We also took

plenty of water, sports drinks and energy bars with us. All khuddam put on their jackets

and Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Caps. We purchased our tickets for the chairlift and

checked the latest weather forecast. The prediction was for cloudy weather with

afternoon showers.

The chairlift from Thredbo village took us to the top of Mount Crackenback. It was a very

pleasant and scenic ride. We then took the opportunity to take some photos and have a

quick bite before the start of our 6.5km walk to the summit.

The walk started off well and it took us a couple of minutes just to take in the scenery

around us and the beauty of nature. The weather was fine with gusty winds however

approx 1km into our walk it started to rain quite heavily and briefly hailed, causing all of

11 us to be soaked. The rain had arrived earlier than predicted! The tracks were made out

of steel mesh, and this was becoming slippery with the rain. We had a meeting on

whether to continue to trek on or turn back. Some of us were concerned that we may

start suffering from cramps etc and it would be difficult to return if we carried on. A risk

assessment was taken and after discussions it was decided that the trek would go on,

however we would review it again if the weather continued to be troublesome.

At this moment, the rain stopped and we continued on our trek taking 5 minute breaks

at suitable intervals. It continued to rain on and off with gusty winds. Deep down I

believe what drove us on was the fact that no previous group of Ahmadies had

achieved this feat, of reaching the summit of Mt. Kosziusko, and we really wanted to

achieve it.

Approx 2 hours later and after some very serious effort, Alhamdolilah! we reached the

top of Australia, literally. Emotions expressed by all were of sheer relief, amazement

and thankfulness to Allah. Qaid sahib said the Azan and led slogans with Nara-e-

Tagbeer. The vocal flag of Syedna Muhammad Mustafa (s.a.w), his mahdi and Messiah,

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (as), his Khalifa waqt Hazrat Mirza Khalifatul Masih Ul

Khamis (atba) had graced the top of Australia. The promise that God made with the

Promised Messiah (as) that “I shall cause thy message to reach the corners of the

Earth” had once again manifested itself in a most literal and beautiful way. It was

incredibly windy and the Australian and Lawa-e- Khuddamul Ahmadiyyat flags flew

proudly on top and photos were taken of this historic feat. We then had an opportunity

to say Nafl prayers led by Qaid sahib on the summit of Mount Kosziusko.

After soaking in the sights, eating sandwiches, energy bars and having a bit of a rest it

was time to trek back. The rain by now had cleared and the sun baked us and dried our

clothes. The journey back was much more pleasant and relaxing and khuddam were

able to truly enjoy the magnificent views, the streams of water with small fish in it and

the very essence of how beautifully God had created nature.

Approx 1.5 hours later we took the chairlift back down to Thredbo village and had lunch

at a park. Qaid sahib had prepared a most delicious meal and khuddam were able to fill

themselves up well. Jazak Allah Ahsanul Jaza! After lunch we packed everything and on

our way back home, offered combined Zuhr and Asr prayers at a camp site near

Thredbo river.

On the return journey the mood was of tiredness but humble thankfulness to God that

Alhamdulillah! We had been able to achieve this task.

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad

Khalifatul Masih II - "Musleh Maoud" (By Moulvi Bashir Ahmad Dehlavi, Translated by Naseeruddin Shera)

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had given the

tidings of the advent of a spiritual, pious and Promised son of Mahdi at a time when

Islam would be at a stage of decline and depression. He had prophesied he would come

with a mission to revive and strengthen the Islamic theology and, through him, Islam,

would resurge on the surface of the Earth. The Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) called

this Holy Spiritual son as the Musleh (Reformer), and the Promised one, and said about

him:

Yata-zavvajo-wa-yooladu-lahu

The Promised Messiah shall marry and will have children. This was an indication that this

marriage would be of a special nature and, through this, Allah shall grant him such

children as would be assisting and co-operating in carrying on his mission.

In context of this prophecy of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah

be upon him), some of his eminent followers had also prophesied that, on completion of

the Promised Messiah's tenure, one of his sons would be bestowed with unique

splendour and glory and shall ascend the throne of Khilafat.

Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad (Allah be pleased with him) received his

education in the District Board Primary School and, later in 1898, in Taleemul Islam High

School when it was started. Nevertheless, in his student life he was never interested in

routine book knowledge, and could not succeed in the Government Entrance

Examination. This was the end of his formal education, which was not merely incidental,

but a great miracle of the Divine Destiny. Incidents later proved that the Lord Almighty

Himself wanted to be his teacher. Thus the world witnessed that he not only had intrinsic

and spiritual knowledge but his insight into basic wisdom was so vast and deep that,

however, learned a scholar, armed with whatever worldly knowledge attacked Islam he

would prove to be a mere academic novice. Thus the fulfilment of the divine revelation

became manifest. "Would abound in the Wisdom of the Explicit and the Intrinsic"

During the lifetime of the Promised Messiah he had developed a strong desire for

religious services, hence when the Promised Messiah, during the last days of his life,

appealed to the youth to come forward to serve Islam, Hazrat Mirza Bashiruddin

Mahmood Ahmad offered himself and soon formed Anjuman Tashheezul Azhaan and

under its supervision, started a magazine by the same name, through which the work of

religious preaching was carried out. At the time of the Promised Messiah's demise he

was only 19 years of age, even at that time, highly convincing and silencing replies to the

criticism flowed from his august pen. On 26th May 1908, the Promised Messiah (peace

be on him) passed away at Lahore. At that moment this promised son stood by the bed

of the Promised Messiah and vowed:

"Even if all the people leave you and I am left alone I would stand by you and would face

all opposition to and onslaughts on your Mission."

He very well kept up his covenant, and, all through his life, never cared for anyone's

enmity or opposition and, always actively endeavoured towards the progress of Islam

and Ahmadiyyat.

Early in 1911, with the permission of Hazrat Maulana Nooruddin, Khalifatul Masih I,

founded the Anjuman Ansaarullah, whose members were required to donate some of

their time for religious service, propagation of Islam and Ahmadiyyat and to promote

mutual amity, love and universal fraternity.

In September 1912, he travelled to Egypt, thence to Mecca and performed the Hajj.

In June 1913, he started, "The Al Fazl" a news paper for the Jamaat in which, apart from

the national news, educative, informative, historical, preaching and reformatory articles

were published.

12

Page 13: Al Masroor March 2010

13 On 27th May, 1908, on the demise of the Promised Messiah (peace be upon him),

when Hakim Maulana Nooruddin (may God be pleased with him) was elected the

Jamaat's first Khalifa, the first man to take the oath of allegiance was Hazrat Mirza

Bashiruddin Mahmood Ahmad.

On Friday the 13th of March 1914, Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I (may God be pleased

with him), passed away. And on the 14th of March, 1914, at the time of Asr Prayer, in

Masjid Noor Qadian, the Ahmadis gathered, where Hazrat Nawab Muhammad Ali

Khan, who was a Sahabi (companion) and son-in-law of the Promised Messiah, read

out the "will" of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih I and requested the people to act

accordingly and elect someone as his successor. On this Maulana Syed Ahsan

Amrohvi proposed the name of Hazrat Sahibzada Mirza Bashiruddin Mahmood

Ahmad. He was hesitant and refused at first, but on the fervid persistence of the

people, realised that it was the verdict of Allah and accepted the oath of Allegiance

of the Ahmadis and thus became the Second Successor to the Promised Messiah

(peace be on him).

The Golden Era of His Khilafat and His Magnificent Achievements

From 14th March 1914 to the 7th of November, 1965, a period of about fifty two

(52) years, he led the Jamaat, which took great strides some of which could be

enumerated as under:

Propagation of Islam

One of his most important achievements was the founding of a strong system for

propagation and preaching of Islam within the country and abroad.

For the fulfilment of this task he established Nazarat Dawato Tabligh in 1919, and he

opened various missions abroad for the propagation of Islam. In 46 Islamic countries

Missions were solidly established when he departed from this world. And around

them active and sincere Jamaats exist till now.

Quranic Wisdom

Allah had granted him a deep encyclopaedic intrinsic spiritual knowledge and

understanding of the Holy Quran.

He had also declared that he was bestowed with such a meaningful wisdom of the

Holy Quran that, if anyone, with whatever knowledge and following whatever

religion, criticised the Holy Quran, by the grace of Allah, he would convincingly

silence and satisfy him through Quran alone.

In a public gathering in Delhi in 1944, claiming himself to be the "Musleh Maoud"

(Promised Reformer) and reiterating his challenge about the interpretation of the

truths and wisdom of the Holy Quran, he declared:

"I do claim now again that even if thousands of scholars assembled to compete with

me in writing commentaries of Quran, yet the world would accept and acknowledge

that my commentary was unique in wisdom of divine truths in depth."

The new definition of the wisdom of the Holy Quran, written in his Tafsir-e-Kabir,

bears undeniable evidence of the truth and validity of the aforesaid claim. The age

became convinced of the superiority of his Quranic knowledge.

Translation and Publication of the Holy Quran in Various Languages

It was also one of his great achievements that he got the Holy Quran translated in

various important languages of the world so that, those who did not know Arabic,

the glory and wisdom of the divine book could be made available to them in their

own languages. This work was continued in Khilafat-e-Salisa and further in Khilafat-e-

Rabia. First of all the English translation of the Holy Quran was published, then its

commentary. During his Khilafat, translations in 14 other languages were in progress.

Imparting of moral training

Page 14: Al Masroor March 2010

Along with the missionary work he did a great deal towards imparting moral training to the Jamaat.

Some of his achievements in this direction were as under.

• He affirmed the Divine System of Khilafat on solid foundations and declared, "Khilafat is a

source and beacon of Divine Light. So hold on firmly to Khilafat." Once again he

declared, "Friends, my last advice would be that all blessings are in Khilafat. Prophethood

is a seed after which the Khilafat spreads its benevolence in the world around. Hold on

firmly to true Khilafat and spread its blessings in the world. Allah would be merciful to you

and would bless you in this world and in the hereafter."

• In order to consolidate and organise the Jamaat he established the central and regional

Anjumans and, for better functioning various important Nazarats were established

under the aegis of Sadar Anjuman Ahmadiyya Qadian.

o Nazarat Dawato Tabligh

o Nazarat Taleem

o Nazarat Umoor-e-Aamma

o Nazarat Bait-ul-Mal and

o Nazarat Ulia above them to oversee,

guide and direct all sections of the Jamaat. In order to make them capable of

successfully shouldering the important assignments and responsibilities of the future,

separate organisations were formed in Jamaat:

o The Organisation of Ansaarullah for men above 40 years of age.

o The organisation of Khuddam-ul-Ahmadiyya for youth below 40.

o The Organisation of Atfal-ul-Ahmadiyya for boys of below 15 years.

o The organisation of Lajna Imaullah for women.

o The Organisation of Nasirat-ul-Ahmadiyya for girls.

Through all these organisation, essential moral and organisation training was imparted

on firm grounds.

Migration of Jamaat from India

In 1947, when the country was divided, along with other Muslims, the Ahmadis also left for

Pakistan. In order to ensure their unity, integrity and cohesiveness, a great city Rabwah was built,

wherein, offices, schools, colleges and various departments were re-established and re-organised.

Tehrik-e-Jadid

In 1934, the Majlis-e- Ahrar, according to a well laid conspiracy, sent some of its volunteers to

create mischief by organising conferences at Qadian. It seemed all the forces had combined against

Ahmadiyyat. However, the foundations of this holy Jamaat were laid by the Lord of Heavens

Himself, in the face of the strong and piercing winds of opposition, provision to safeguard the meek

and delicate plant of Ahmadiyya was to be made by God Himself. As the nefarious intentions of the

Majlis-e-Ahrar unfold, Allah through His chosen Servant, initiated a great Universal Scheme of

Tehrik-e-Jadid, which not only brought to naught, the plans of the opponents, in a very short time

the truth of Ahmadiyyat also became manifest and the flags of its Spiritual Conquest and

Supremacy were pitched firmly and high. This scheme was based on 27 demands and contained

comprehensive and all embracing provisions by which every member of the Jamaat was convinced

that in order to establish the Oneness of God, to restore the dignity of the Holy Prophet (peace be

upon him), and to prove the truth of Islam and to establish a righteous society one had to first bring

about a palpable and manifest change in his own life and conduct as well. Under it the preaching

activities were extended to many other foreign countries.

Waqf-e-Jadid

Similarly the scheme of Waqf-e-Jadid was initiated so as to promote missionary and reformative

activities of the Jamaat in every city, town and village in India and Pakistan by appointing Teachers

everywhere. This scheme was introduced on 27th September, 1957.

Tours abroad

Though Hazrat Khalifatul Masih II (may God be pleased with him) was over busy shouldering the

responsibilities of Khilafat, yet Huzur visited Europe twice. First in 1924, to participate in the

Wembley Conference along with 12 companions, breaking journey at Damascus, Palestine and

Egypt halting briefly at each of these places Huzur reached England passing through Italy and

15 France. He met Mussolini in Italy enroute. On reaching London his visit was much

publicised by the media. In many of them his photographs also appeared, and the

Britishers welcomed Huzur with extra-ordinary warmth and zeal. On 23rd,

September 1924, Chaudhary Muhammad Zafarullah Khan read out Huzur's article in

the conference, which was published in the form of a book titled "Ahmadiyyat the

true Islam". At the conclusion of the reading the hall reverberated with cheers and

applause. The chairman praised the success of the article in glowing terms.

The second journey Huzur undertook was in the first week of April 1955. In this tour,

passing through Damascus and Lebanon, Huzur visited Geneva, and thereon via

Zurich, Hamburg and Hague reached London. This tour was mainly for the treatment

of Huzur's ailment which he suffered after a murderous attempt on his life. But

Huzur, despite his illness, opened various missions in Europe. Wherever he went he

met people individually and in groups. In Damascus he delivered the Friday Sermon

in Arabic and in European countries in English.

In the long 52 year span of his Khilafat, various other achievements are credited to

him. He guided the Muslims in Politics especially during the Non-Co-operation

Movement of the Congress, devoted his attention towards the scheduled classes and

Harijans and countered the "Shuddhi" movement in Malkanas.
