Why PPx?

PPx therapy is the first clinically proven painless treatment for acne, skin rejuvenation and permanent hair reduction. The PPx treatment is a quick, non-invasive, no-downtime, in-office procedure that requires no pre-treatment anaesthetics or gels.

The Technology

The technology behind this therapy is that it uses a proprietary combination of broadband light and pneumatic energy (vacuum) delivered through a hand-piece.

The treatment is unique in that a vacuum momentarily draws the skin into the treatment hand-piece causing the top layer of skin to become thinner.

How does PPx work?

The "pulling up” motion gently thins the epidermis and brings the dermis and structures there (including unwanted hair) closer to the surface of the skin.

Light energy is then applied to the dermal skin (including hair or blood vessels). This is then converted by selective photo thermolysis to heat energy and absorbed by the target, quickly, painlessly and effectively destroying it

Different objects in the skin preferentially absorb different wavelengths of light. (selective absorption)

Why PPx?

What are the advantages?

The greatest benefit is that the PPx is totally painless. This is important as most patients feel pain

during hair removal.

What are the other advantages?

The second major benefit is speed of treatments. This system is five times faster than conventional IPL lasers

The third is that PPx achieves clinical efficacy without compromising on safety. .

The fourth is the ability of the system to cause pore cleansing during treatment..

What is pore cleansing?

The pores are cleansed as vacuum activation helps to elevate the sebaceous gland, bringing it closer to the skin’s surface

Removing these blockages simultaneously helps clean the sebaceous gland leaving clean and clear looking skin

Types of ACNE

Closed comedones ”Whiteheads”: Whiteheads can occur on the surface of the skin and can be caused when the pore is completely blocked, trapping sebum (oil), causing a white appearance on the surface of the skin, hence the name “whitehead.”

Open comedones “Blackheads”: Blackheads result from the pore being partially blocked by sebaceous debris composed of dead skin cells, sebum and bacteria. The black colour results from oxidization of melanin in the skin.

Papules: Papules are the mildest form of inflammatory acne. The occur on the skin as solid, small, but inflamed red bumps that feel tender

Types of ACNE

Pustules: Pustules are small round dome shaped lesions with visible white or yellow “centres” of pus.

Nodules: Nodules are solid, dome-shaped or irregularly shaped lesion that feel like hard bumps right under the skin’s surface an extend into deeper layers of the skin, often causing tissue destruction that results in scarring.

Cysts: Acne cysts are larger than pustules and appear similar to a nodule except that they are pus filled. Cysts can be painful lesions.
