ACHIEVING DREAMSFind your path in Osseo Area Schools
WELCOME
OUR SIZE IS AN ADVANTAGE
As Minnesota’s fifth-largest school district, Osseo Area Schools serves all or parts of Brooklyn Center,
Brooklyn Park, Corcoran, Dayton, Maple Grove, Osseo, Plymouth and Rogers.
Our size is an advantage, allowing us to offer more academic and extra-curricular opportunities for your
child to thrive; greater access to technology to enhance learning; and more staff to support your student’s
individual learning needs.
ISD 279 students reflect our vibrant global community, coming from homes where more than 100 dialects
or languages are spoken. Our schools are racially and culturally diverse, and students experience rich, real-
life learning environments that prepare them for success in the 21st century workplace.
In Osseo Area Schools, we inspire and prepare all students to achieve their dreams, contribute
to community, and engage in a lifetime of learning. Our scholars benefit from exceptional
opportunities, support and partnerships that help them graduate with the confidence, courage and
competence to make their dreams a reality.
ACHIEVING DREAMS
2
OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOUR STUDENT TO THRIVE
From your child’s first day of preschool or kindergarten
until high school graduation, Osseo Area Schools offers
students unparalleled learning opportunities—in the
classroom, in the community, on stage and on the field.
In collaborative teams, our educators focus on equitable
student achievement, which means ensuring high levels
of achievement for all students, and accelerating growth
for students of color and other student groups in order to
close the achievement gap.
As students move from elementary through middle
school to high school, they encounter increasingly
complex ideas that build critical thinking skills.
In addition to academics, we leverage the performing
arts, co-curricular and leadership activities, sports,
and community service to give students a wide
range of opportunities to find their path and round out
their educational experience.
SUPPORT AND PARTNERSHIPS OPEN DOORS TO AMAZING LEARNING
Our students don’t just sit in classrooms—they actively
engage in learning and benefit from the added value
offered by community partners. On any given day, you
may see corporate mentors advising students of all ages,
students raising money for international disaster relief
efforts, or students video conferencing with subject
matter experts around the world.
Thanks to a supportive community, our digital learning
plan promotes personalized learning, which means
students receive instruction that is delivered at the
appropriate pace, is tailored to their learning styles, and
motivates them based on their individual interests. The
plan includes a one-to-one mobile device program; a
learning management system (Schoology) that makes
it easy to organize schoolwork and communicate with
teachers; and teacher training in using digital tools for
personalized learning.
Leadership activities—such as Model United Nations,
Mock Trial and National Honor Society—enable
your student to rise to the challenges of our globally
connected world.
There’s no need to travel to earn a diploma that’s
recognized around the globe; your child can enroll
in our International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
Programme, recognized by the world’s leading colleges
and universities.
Students in our automotive maintenance and light repair
program can earn industry certification and gain access
to corporate experts for first-hand information about the
automotive field.
If your child’s interests lie in the medical arena, choose
our health sciences program where students prepare for
certification in a variety of health care careers and may
be eligible to earn college credit.
In designated engineering and manufacturing courses,
students have the opportunity to attain college credit
from the University of Minnesota or St. Cloud State
University.
In each of our comprehensive high schools, students can
earn workplace-ready certifications in culinary arts and
information technology.

OUR MISSION IS TO INSPIRE AND PREPARE ALL STUDENTS WITH THE CONFIDENCE, COURAGE AND COMPETENCE TO:
• ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS
• CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY
• ENGAGE IN A LIFETIME OF LEARNING

PRE-KINDERGARTEN & ELEMENTARY
A child’s first years of school provide a foundation for lifelong learning. Pre-kindergarten programming—
available at every elementary school—incorporates research-based early learning standards developed by
the Minnesota Department of Education. Our teachers and staff work together to ensure the concepts and
skills taught in pre-kindergarten lay the groundwork for those taught in kindergarten.
Elementary students are introduced to a range of subjects, from reading/language arts to math, science,
social studies, art, music (vocal and instrumental) and physical education. Students in fourth- and
fifth-grade can audition for the Children’s Chorus, a districtwide performing group that has served the
community for more than 50 years. Services are also provided at each elementary school to support gifted
learners and students with special needs.
MIDDLE SCHOOL
In middle school, young minds thrive on active learning. Our middle school program keeps students
engaged and challenged; helps them discover new interests; and supports their growth.
An interdisciplinary team of teachers focuses on your child’s academic, social and emotional needs.
Students also have a regular advisory period that provides time for extra attention to academics, along
with opportunities to build relationships with teachers and other students.
While in middle school, your child may even take courses eligible for high school credit.
HIGH SCHOOL
High school offers opportunities for students to explore, grow and prepare for entering the workplace or
college. In addition to choosing core subjects and a wide range of electives, your child can participate in
sports, theater, arts, clubs, music, community service and leadership opportunities.
Students have several options for earning college credit while in high school, including Advanced
Placement and International Baccalaureate courses, credit agreements with local community and technical
colleges, and Post-Secondary Enrollment Options.
Our robust career and technical education offerings can help your child gain career-connected knowledge,
skills and competencies that will help them succeed in life after high school. Students can even receive
workplace-ready certifications in fields such as automotive technology, culinary arts, health care, and
information technology.
