Brockton Area CAP Etiquette Event (Part 2)

Dining Etiquette with Susan Callender The Brockton Area Connecting

Activities Partnership gathered togetherwith students on November 2nd to par-ticipate in a Dining Etiquette Event. Thisevent completed a two – part series withSusan Callender from “Oh MyGauche!” a “leader in international eti-quette and protocol training.” The stu-dents of the Connecting ActivitiesPartnership patiently stood behind theirchairs at tables set for a dining experi-ence at the Massasoit ConferenceCenter in Brockton. From learning theproper side to be seated and the rolegentleman play in pulling out a younglady’s chair, to the proper way of plac-ing your silverware to signal that youhave finished eating – students wereeager to learn small details that theymay have never paid mind to before.

Susan Callender explained basic tablemanners, the meaning of the table set-ting, and the difference betweenContinental vs. American dining. Thestudents enjoyed their meals whilelearning dining etiquette that can beused in business meetings, social gath-erings, and even everyday at home.People may not view it as an importantquality, but Etiquette plays an impor-tant role in the job market, and it mightbe a decisive quality for one’s success toearn a position in the workforce.
