When I had my first appointment with Jacques Milet in Paris, I could not imagine that I was about to meet an incomparable painter and car- toonist. New publication by Pasky

J acques Milet passed away a ten year ago. When I had my first appointment with Jacques

Milet in Paris, I could not imagine that I was about to meet an incomparable painter and car-

toonist. Of course, I knew the avid toys collector and the author he was, but I discovered in his

small apartment a lot of gorgeous gouaches and etchings on Antique toys. His humor was bread

and could be biting. Through his glowing drawings, whose beauty and sauciness were unparalle-

led, he had the ability of creating a wonderful Antique Toys World. In fond tribute to “daddy

Jacques”, I have gathered a group of his drawings of the toys he collected during his lifetime

and you may find, as I did, that they are still among your favorite paintings of Antique Toys.

Jacques Milet was a friend of collectors of all kinds, but especially of people impassioned by life and all that

makes life worth living. Naturally we had our common interests - just like him I like all sorts of toys with no

bias for material; painting, good books and good words, movies, videos, friends, and love “the cherry on the

cake.” In his wife Monique he found the angel of his life. He worshiped her, and she loved him back equally.

Jacques, Daddy Jacques as he liked to be called, gave so much to us, we the young generation of toy collectors

who followed you and who will never forget you. In his wife Monique he found the angel of his life. He wor-

shiped her, and she loved him back equally. This unique couple always had guests in the cozy apartment in

Noisy le Sec, and the time spent together was always, I repeat always, too short as we would discuss subjects so

passionate to us. The poetry of toys, the beautiful words of famous people concerning toys, old films but never-

theless sometimes a modern presentation that you like or not but is innovative and not stagnant. He would have

loved it, I’m sure! Jacky Broutin (Toymania antique toys fair creator)
