Quick Review
Jesus as our Redeemer: Romans 5:6-8“For Christ, while we were still helpless,
yet died at the appointed time for the ungodly. Indeed, only with difficulty does one die for a just person, though perhaps for a good person one might even find courage to die.
But God proves his love for us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.”

Fasting
Catholics ages 18 to 59 should fast on Ash Wednesday and on Good Friday.
All the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence from meat
Fasting means we can have only one full meal. Some food can be taken at the other regular meal times if necessary, but combined they should be less than a full meal. No solid food should be consumed between meals.
Fasting
“Is this not, rather, the fast that I choose: releasing those bound unjustly, setting free the oppressed, sharing your bread with the hungry, bringing the afflicted and the homeless into your house; clothing the naked . . .(Isaiah 58:6-7)
“When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face . . . (Mt. 6:16)
Almsgiving
Almsgiving is a way of saying that we want to share the gifts that God has given to us, that we care for the people whom He loves.
Those who are “marginalized” by our society and culture
Those who need a listening ear and understanding

Prayer
Mt. 6: 5-8“When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites,
who love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on street corners so that others may see them.
But when you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. . . do not babble like the pagans, who think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. . . .
Prayer
The lifting up of one’s heart in mind to GodBeing in dialogue with God.Being in the presence of God, enjoying his
presence, and talking with him, about our hopes, our dreams, our failures, our wanting to express our love for him.
He starts the conversation“Here I am Lord “
Prayer
