THE LORD’S FLOCK
Sheep are high-maintenance animals. They are not very intel-ligent. Without guidance and care, es-
pecially in a climate like Israel’s, they would die quickly from predators, star-
vation, or just their own slowness. The
scriptural image of us as the Lord’s flock is not terribly flattering to us,
since it is only the never-ending dili-gence of a watchful shepherd that allows the flock to survive.
The feast of Christ the King was intended to call the world
back to Christ as the sole power of the world, to bring back a flock that had been scattered by many negative forces of the
growing industrial, scientific, and war‑torn world of the early twentieth century. It is fitting that, as we celebrate Christ the
King, we hear about Christ the Shepherd who cares for us and who, likewise, will be there at the end of time. Interest-
ingly enough, as the Gospel illustrates, our own destiny is

EL REBAÑO DE JESÚS
Las ovejas son animales que necesitan mucha atención. No son muy inteligentes. Especialmente en un cli-
ma como el de Israel, morirían rápidamen-te a causa de predadores, hambre o por su
lentitud. La imagen bíblica de nosotros
como el rebaño del Señor no es halagado-ra porque solamente con la vigilancia cons-
tante del pastor cuidadoso el rebaño pue-de sobrevivir.
La institución de la fiesta de Cristo Rey fue motivada por la
intención de llevar el mundo a Cristo como el único poder de este mundo; y también de hacer volver el rebaño dispersado por
las tantas fuerzas negativas del creciente mundo industrial y científico, desgarrado por la guerra, del siglo veinte. Mientras
celebramos a Cristo Rey, es muy apropiado entender que el Cris-to Pastor nos cuida ahora y va a estar presente en el momento
de la separación de buenos y malos en el juicio final. Como el

In the Spirit of sharing our blessing with others, we will be providing Thanksgiving dinner boxes to many needy families through our food pantry. Boxes will be distrib-uted on Monday, 24 November beginning at 8:00 AM on the Plaza to those who have signed up to receive one.
We will accept donations of turkeys before each Mass THIS weekend or by 8:00 AM, Monday, 24 November.

Parish Board of Directors Election Notification from Fr. Ron Oakham, O.Carm.
The term of Bea Anne Berg, one of the current lay directors of the Board of Directors of our parish’s corporation, expires at the end of December. Bea Anne (who serves as the Secretary of the Board) is eligible for another term, and is willing to serve the parish in this capacity. Therefore, I am nominating her for another term.
At the same time, parishioners may nominate them-selves or another parishioner for this position. Thus, in accord with Article II of the Parish Corporate Bylaws, notice is hereby given that, any registered parishioner over 25 years of age, who is in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church, may be nominated for this position. To submit a nomination, a letter indicating the name and address of the nominee together with the names and addresses of ten regis-tered parishioners in full communion with the Roman Catholic Church supporting the nomination must be submitted to me on or before Sunday, 30 November. If more than the one nomination is received, an announcement will be made on the weekend of 6–7 December that there will be an election held after each of the Masses on the weekend of 13–14 De-cember.

El mandato de Bea Anne Berg como uno de nuestros directores laicos en la Junta de Directores de la Corporación de nuestra parroquia llega a
su fin al final del mes de diciembre. Bea Anne, quien se ha venido desempeñado como Secretaria de la Junta, es elegible para un nuevo mandato y ante su disposición por servir a la parroquia en esta posición, la propongo para un nuevo mandato.
Sin embargo, los feligreses pueden nominarse a sí mismos o nominar a otro para esta posición. De acuerdo con el Artículo II

Updating our Parish Registration Roster
All registered parishioners were sent a letter requesting an up-date of their registration information with the request that the update form be returned by 1 December (even if all information provided from our roster is correct and up-to-date). This is a reminder to return the form.
If you didn’t receive the letter with the update form and believe you are registered in the parish, then something is not up-to-date and the letter did not get to you. In this case, please be sure to contact Sally at the Parish Office (795-1633 ext 118; [email protected]), so that she can provide you with the form for you to complete and update your registra-tion.

Next weekend we begin accepting donations for Christmas Flowers. Donations can be made in honor or in memory of loved ones using the special enve-lopes in the packets mailed to your home or on the table in the vestibule. You may put your donation in the collection baskets starting next weekend 29/30 November or any weekend through 21 December. Thank you in advance for helping make our church so beautiful during our Christmas celebrations.

Todos los candidatos a la Confirmación y sus padrinos, favor de estar en el Salón Nicholson antes de las 5:45 PM. A las 6:15, todos necesitan estar “en fila”. Es importante que todos sean puntu-

Confirmation to be Celebrated this Week
This Tuesday, 25 November, our parish will welcome Bishop Kicanas when he comes to celebrate Confirmation. The Mass will begin at 6:30 PM. All confirmation candidates and their sponsors please be in Nicholson Hall by 5:45 PM. Everyone needs to be “in line” by 6:15 PM. It is important that everyone is on time. Rehearsal for Confirmation will be the evening before, Monday, 24 November at 6:30 PM begin-ning in Nicholson Hall. Catholic Campaign for Human Development
The Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Hu-man Development (CCHD) is the primary source of funds for grants to groups that make lasting change and uplift the poor in the United States. And remember, 25% of the Collection’s pro-ceeds remains in our diocese.
CCHD grants have helped fund the following programs:
Tohono O'odham Community Action (TOCA): a Native Food System for a healthy food supply; Basket Weavers Organization; Elder/Youth Outreach Initiative; Arts & Cul-ture Program
Pima County Interfaith Council (PCIC), Yuma County In-terfaith (YCIF) and Pinal County Arizona Institute for Pu-blic Life (AIPL). Each of these initiatives have received CCHD funding for providing local, grassroots leadership training, enabling community leaders to take action in bringing about systemic change in matters related to po-verty and justice.
PCIC: Kidco expansion and funding; El Pueblo & El Rio Learning Centers; Schools & Jobs Dropout Prevention; JobPath Workforce; low-income bus fares defense
YCIF: ESL classes for adults; the Yuma free clinic; a lea-dership assembly for the engagement and development of new leaders
AIPL: support of budget increases for the local elementa-ry school district; expansion of the state Medicaid pro-gram, AHCCS; leadership training on relational organizing skills and house meeting strategies

La Colecta para la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano (CCHD) es la fuente principal de fondos para los grupos que buscan efectuar cambios duraderos a fin de mejorar la vida de los pobres en EE.UU. a través de mejoras en la educación, apo-yo para el desarrollo económico y viviendas de bajo costo a las comunidades. El 25% de lo que se recauda se queda en nuestra diócesis de Tucson.
CCHD ha ayudado a financiar los siguientes programas:
Tohono O'odham Community Action (TOCA): sistema nativo de alimen-tos saludables; Programas de ayuda Basket Weavers Organization y Elder/Youth Outreach Initiative; Programa de Artes y Cultura.
Pima County Interfaith (PCIC) y Yuma County Interfaith (YCIF); Pinal County Arizona Institute for Public Life (AIPL). Cada una de estas orga-nizaciones ha recibido fondos de CCHD a fin de que puedan impartir capacitaciones de liderazgo base a nivel local; con ello, los líderes de las comunidades puedan tomar medidas a fin de lograr cambios sistémicos en temas relacionados con la pobreza y la justicia.
PCIC: programa Kidco; El Pueblo y El Rio Learning Centers; Programa contra la deserción escolar y laboral; JobPath Workforce (programa para obtener empleo); Programa para obtener tarifas bajas en los auto-buses.
YCIF: clases de inglés como segundo idioma (ESL) para adultos; clínica gratuita en Yuma; asamblea de liderazgo para la participación y el de-sarrollo de nuevos líderes.
AIPL: apoyo para el incremento en los presupuestos de las escuelas primarias distritales; expansión del programa estatal de Medicaid, AHCCS; capacitación de liderazgo en habilidades organizacionales y en estrategias para realizar reuniones en casas.
