Subject: Prayer request for Papua New Guinea

There is very little news in the media about the unrest in Papua New Guin-ea. On 8 June there was police shooting at the university students who were demonstrating against the Prime Minister of PNG in Port Moresby. Sixteen students were injured and treated in hospital, no one died. The ongoing situ-ation is of concern for the people of PNG. The United Church of PNG has asked for our continued prayers. The prayer request from the general secretary of US PNG: - Pray for the Prime Minister Peter O’Neil and Cabinet Ministers and the Members of the National Parliament to hear the voice of God and obey by taking responsible actions to keep the peace. - Pray for the student leaders to consider best possible options to address the issues they are fighting for rather than violence. - Pray for the public to stay calm rather than taking the opportunity to loot, destroy properties and harass others. - Pray for the Church to stand united in Pray and seek Gods will. - Pray for the Public Servants to continue to serve the people and not take sides. - Pray for understanding of everyone. - Pray for the school students who are sitting for their exams this week pray that this situation will not affect them in their concentration. - Pray for the media to report honestly. - Pray for the Police and security personnel to treat people with respect and care. - Pray for private sector for protection against unruly behaviour of the public. - Pray that people fear God upholding the laws of the land. Thank you all for your prayer support.
