Girl Scout Leadership ExperienceCamp is full of fun activities—archery, swimming, climbing the Alpine Tower, eating in thedining hall, cooking out, and making friends. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience iscentral to our summer resident camp program. Through activities and experiences, girls willgain skills to become leaders who are inspired to make the world a better place. Activitiesmay include working on Girl Scout Journeys, grade level awards and badges. All camperswill receive a camp patch.

Group and Troop CampSpend time exploring the wilds of Camp Graham or Camp Hardee while participating inswimming, archery, or canoeing. Campers enjoy other fun camp activities unique to the campthat the group decides to attend. Weeklong and mini sessions are designed for a group of girlsand adults to attend resident camp as a unit. Stay for a weeklong session, arriving Sundayafternoon and leaving Friday afternoon. For a mini-session, spend three days at camp havinga great time.

At Group and Troop Camp, girls attend with their troop/group leader and otherapproved adult chaperones. The resident camp provides a “core” staff, including campdirector, lifeguards, health supervisor, arts and crafts director, and dining hall staff. Eachgroup has the opportunity to plan some of their own activities and can also participatein some waterfront activities, sports, crafts, and all-camp sessions led by the camp staff.Meals are prepared in the dining hall. It really is the best of all worlds—a campingexperience away from home, with troop/group buddies, and meeting new girls fromother areas at camp. A troop/group must have at least 4 girl participants to be eligible toregister for group/troop camp.

Q: Can my camper attend camp with abuddy/friend?

A: Yes, we would love for girls to attend camp with abuddy. During registration there will be a place for thebuddy’s name to be listed, but a camper may requestonly one buddy. Both girls need to be in the same agegroup, and both must register for the same session.Sorry, we cannot honor requests for more than onebuddy.

Q: What are camp staff like? Are they trained?A: Camp staff are enthusiastic, talented, and caring. They

are selected based on their maturity, programexperience, and genuine desire to work with girls. Allcounselors are at least 18 years old. Q: My potential camper has special needs. Canshe come to camp?

A: Each year, many girls with special needs are able toparticipate in our camp program. Girls must be able tofunction in a 6:1 girl-to-adult ratio. Special needs mayinclude physical, medical, developmental, dietary, behavioral, or communicative. The council reserves theright to make decisions of participation based on theextent of the girl’s special needs and our ability to meetthose needs in the camp setting, as well as other factorsas deemed appropriate. We are concerned about thehealth and safety of all campers, and we want to ensurewe have appropriate professional and medical servicesto meet their needs. With regard to special diets, menusfor programs are planned with the general camppopulation and economy of associated costs in mind.Special diet requests are not generally included in thoseparameters.
