Those receiving the balls aren’t the only ones who are benefi ting from this campaign, those doing the travelling and getting to meet the children on the ground, being able to shake the hands of their teachers, foster parents and seeing the smiles and joy expressed by the children is a life changing experience and something I wish we could all share in. These dedicated individuals have been hand picked due to their willingness to give back to others and the inspiration they are to those around them. This team WIll bring HoPe!

Passionate about sport, often rumored to arrange sporting gatherings at ridiculous hours in the morning to support is teams back in his homeland! Cameron will be heading out to Uganda for 2 weeks and is looking forward to his fi rst African experience, which he will thrive in and bringing many smiles and moments of joy!

Giving of his time and energy for the greater good of others is something which Mark thrives on! His British heritage is deeply routed in his make up and was very happy to speak to Cameron throughout the past English summer. Mark is also heading out to Uganda, a solid team looking forward to bringing hope to the children.

A man of action and commitment whose dedication to children in need goes beyond the call of duty. A avid football himself will be wearing his orange colours with pride come July 2010! Until then he will be heading out to Kenya to visit many desperate children in need!

each project will follow a common aim and philosophy: bringing HoPe to the children and community members involved in the projects visited. Having a similar heart behind why we do things we can ensure a consistent message, however it is up to the ambassadors to add their unique fl avour and approach to the overall framework

Page 5: 2010 Campaign - SA

To reach as many children as possible requires a community of people, the Ambassadors themselves will be on the ground doing the exciting work however they would benefi t from having support from others who share a similar heart to helping reach others in need. If you would like to become a partner and have something to offer, your support would be much appreciated.

This is not the fi rst time the ambassadors are stepping out into the places of desperate need but is a continuation of a past seed sown back in 2006. The two previous adventures leading up to this have shown the team that there is a need and that the simple act of giving of their time and energy to those in need goes far beyond the handing out of a football

The sense of adventure and the willingness to do something extraordinary led

Richard and a couple of his friends to paddle down the East Coast of Africa with the

goal to bring HOPE those less fortunate than themselves. Armed with 200 Cheetah

Mitre footballs they spent over 6 months journeying down the East coast visiting

schools, orphanages and clinics distributing footballs. The stories are endless and

the lives they changed are unknown but the

one thing that is certain is that it was the seed

of many adventures to come! They survived

thunder storms out at sea, consistent daily head

winds, close encounters with lions and many

more close calls.

3 of the Ambassadors, Henk, Annelize and Richard were fortunate enough to visit Nairobi, Kenya and help out at a school & orphanage during the children’s August holidays 2009. During their visit they visited a number of other schools and orphanages to whom they distributed Calcio footballs. The impact this had on the kids and their teachers was enormously encouraging and left each seriously moved. This is an extract from a email exchange with one of the teachers on their return;

...just want to acknowledge your visit to the programme and wish you all the best in your endeavours. Actually when you visited it was so amazing and it really made me shaken a bit by the good and big heart that you have you guys. Liked your heart for the children; and it really encouraged me. Richard one thing know is that i have made a good friend for life. All the boys passed their regards for the footballs you donated to them so far. Patrick Kwetu This adventure confi rmed that it wasn’t to be the last, all those who took part were moved by the desperate need and joy of these children.
