UTE SMYTHE | VIOLIN TEACHER
Six Dominican music students took part in the 2014 Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (abrsm) piano and violin practical music examinations. Founded 125 years ago, the abrsm is an indepen-dent international music examination body based in London, that sends examiners all over the world. Exams range from a grade 1 to grade 8. (These grades are not related to the student's school grade). All six Dominican students passed with merit or distinction.
Asante Zwane and Simphiwe Radebe achieved 91% for their Grade 1 violin
exams—exceptional results. Dimpho Racoma received a distinction (over 85%) for her Grade 2 violin exam.
Pianists Imani Nyezi (Grade 4), Akani Novela (Grade 1), and Ulemu Kadzuwa (Grade 1) all passed with merit (80–85%).
None of these students' accomplishments would have been posislbe without the dedication of music teachers Corlia Fourie (piano), Ute Smythe (violin) and accompanist Michael Burrell.

" I was filled with fear and excitement. Despite the fear running throughout my body the hard work did pay off. The notes flew from my violin. When I had finished I had scored a distinction."DIMPHO RAKOMA, 11N

p Proud Primary School Prize Winner
Guests began trickling in to the school’s hall on Thursday 6th November 2014 as each parent eagerly anticipated the Annual Prize-giving Ceremony. The hall was certainly a pleasant place to spend the afternoon.
As the afternoon progressed, the tables were gradually unburdened as the trophies and certificates were handed out to each of the highly deserving and talented learners who worked so hard all year.
Many of our learners have excelled academically, having maintained positions in the Top 5 and receiving
distinctions throughout the year, as well as having performed on the sports field and in the cultural activities offered at the school.
These accomplishments are largely due to our dedicated and professional staff, who have worked tirelessly in the interest of your children. I thank them for all that they have invested in our learners and future leaders.
