    9.1 Configuring SDH Unit

    Purpose

Use this procedure to configure the parameters of SDH unit. Usually, each parameter adopts the default value. However, they need to be modified during maintenance or configuration of special functions like TCM. The meanings of each parameter are as follows:

    Parameters Description

APId to be received at the sink

APId is used to identify the access point when using TCM function. It must be set to the same value as that of the source.

APId to be sent at the source

APId is used to identify the access point when using TCM function. It must be set to the same value as that of the sink.

Enable Tandem Connection at the Sink

When using TCM function, set this parameter to Enabled.

Enable Tandem Connection at the Source

When using TCM function, set this parameter to Enabled.

    FEC Working Status

    Hardware REG Enabled

When using the SDH unit to realize hardware REG function, set this parameter to Enabled.

    Laser in-Position Status

Use this parameter to display whether the laser is in position or not.

Laser Switch It must be set as Enabled when the unit runs normally.

    Optical Interface Name

    Set the optical interface name.

    Optical/Electrical Interface Loopback

The interface can be set as Inloop or Outloop during maintenance. When the network runs normally, it must be set as No loopback.

Value of Received APId at the sink

Display the received APId at the sink when using TCM function.

    9.2 Configuring PDH Unit

    Purpose

Use this procedure to configure the parameters of PDH unit. Usually, each parameter adopts the default value. However, they need to be modified during maintenance or configuration of functions like loopback. The meanings of each parameter are as follows:

    Parameters Description

    E1 Frame Structure

Set the E1 frame structure as PCM31 or PCM31CRC according to the service type.

    E1/T1 Interconnection

Set the working mode of E1/T1 interconnection port. Transparent transmission and interconnection modes can be selected.

Enable CRC4 Enable CRC4 at every port.

    Input Signal Equalization

When the cable connected with this port is longer than 70 meters, set this parameter to "Enabled" to equalize the input signal.

Path Impedance It should be set as 75ohm or 120ohm according to the interface type.

Path Name Set the tributary path name.

    Path Phase Lock

Set path phase-lock. The value 2Mb/s is usually selected, and the HD1 and HP1 units can be set with only two paths. Supported by HD1 and HP1 units.

Path Protection In the path protection ring, this parameter should be set as Protection.

    Path Service Type

Set it as E1 service or T1 service according to the service type when the unit can transmit the two types of service.

Pattern Set the code type of the path to B8ZS or AMI according to the code type of the signal.

Retiming Mode Select the retiming clock source for the tributary unit. The re-timing mode is used to repair the degraded tributary clock of HP2S or HP2D unit. It can be set only when the SXT working mode is set as Retiming Mode.

    Retiming Working Mode

Select the retiming mode of the tributary unit.

    Service Load Indication

It can be set as Unload to mask all the alarms of the path when there is no service on the path. When the service on the path runs normally, it must be set as Load.

    Parameters Description

    Service Selection

Set it as 34M service or 45M service according to the service type when the unit can work under the two modes.

    SXT Working Mode

Set the working mode of tributary board retimer. You can set tributary retiming clock source only when SXT working mode is set as Retiming.

    T1 Frame Structure

Set the T1 frame structure as D4, ESF, SLC96 or F4 according to the service type.

    Tributary Loopback

The interface can be set as Inloop or Outloop during maintenance. When the network runs normally, it must be set as No loopback.

    Tributary Timing Mode

Set the timing mode of the NE tributary unit. The mode can only be set when the cross-connect unit is XC4, X16 or TXC. As the NE and its cross-connect unit are different in type, the NE tributary unit works in two different modes: mode 1 (internal timing) or mode 2 (external timing).
