靜園 The Meditation The Chinese garden is a landscape garden style which has evolved over three thousand years. It includes both the vast gardens of the Chinese emper-ors and members of the imperial family, built for pleasure and to impress, and the more intimate gardens created by scholars, po-ets, former government officials, soldiers and merchants, made for reflection and escape from the outside world. They create an idealized miniature landscape, which is meant to express the harmony that should exist be-tween man and nature. There are a few elements that are essential in Chinese garden, they are water, stones, and plants respectively. This garden is going to be lo-cated in a school, in Guangzhou. When I was in middle or high school, I always wanted to have Chinese style garden on campus to relax. And it would be really interesting to see how tradition-
