*The goal of this phase is to find credible and valid academic research from sources that will support your hypothesis.

*In citing secondary sources, you are finding ways to answer your original research question.

*The research you discover should help build the credibility of your research report.

*Remember that you are looking to find information that answers your specific research question and that is related to your hypothesis.

*Cover Page

*Resubmit your research question, variables and hypothesis. You may edit them from phase 1 based on my feedback.

*Explain the 3 arguments you intend to find research for – these will be the topics for your 3 main body paragraphs.

*You must find 2 credible and academic sources for each of your arguments

*Research Sources

* You are to seek out SIX (6) separate sources of research that are related to your research question. For each source you must do the following:

*Answer questions to evaluate the validity and credibility of the research source.

* Properly cite the source using APA format.

*A list of at least 5 research points taken from the source that will be expanded on in your paper.

*A short paragraph that explains how this source relates to your hypothesis.

*Make sure to consult the criteria for selecting proper sources and for filling out the templates from class lecture (ISU Phase 2 PPT on ClassNet.

When was it Published? Where was it Published?

Who is the Author(s)? What type of source is it? (Article, book…):

Is this an academic source? How do you know? If it is not, you may not use it. Why is this a credible source? Why does the author/organization have the credibility to write this information? Explain: Source Citation for Reference List (Proper APA Format):

Research Points (at least 8). Must be properly in-text references using APA format.   Connection to Hypothesis – How does the information within this source connect to my hypothesis? It must be specifically related to one of your arguments.

* Summarize, connect and analyze data and results from credible research sources

*Credibility of the Source

*Explain why the author/organization is a reliable and credible person to be writing the article. Reasons can include:

* They are a university professor who has done research in the field with this issue

* They are an organization that is connected directly to the topic/issue

* It is a government source

* It is a primary research study done by social scientists

* Expand on your explanation – you may need to do further research on your author to make sure they are credible and/or academic

*APA Sourcing

*Make sure to use your sheet and the websites (provided from the lesson) as a guide to properly complete the APA format

*Do not lose marks for small and careless errors

*These may include quotes or statistics or facts

*DO NOT overuse quotes – most of your information should be paraphrased (still needs to be sourced)

*Word for word copies typed out of a book or magazine

*What ARE research notes?*Paraphrasing (own words) of

information that is relevant to your topic

*Word for word replication of statements that cannot be paraphrased—with the author’s name, date and publication included

*Dates, statistics, concepts relevant to the topic

*How you think this source related to the topic
