This framework is the distillation of everything that I’ve discovered about healing thethyroid naturally, quickly and easily. Has anyone ever taken the time to ask you about what was happening in your lifewhen you first started having thyroid symptoms? Have they asked you questions andlistened to your story to truly gain an understanding of what brought you to where youare today? Has anyone ever taken the time to help you FULLY understand WHY you are here?Why you have Hashimoto’s? Why you just can’t seem to get better? If you’re like most women, the answer is an emphatic “no!” In fact, it’s the mostcommon complaint that I hear from women.  Here’s how women describe it: “My doctor doesn’t listen to me.” “My doctor dismisses me.” “My doctor just wants me to take a pill and go on my merry way.” “My doctor doesn’t treat me like a whole person.” This is one of the great mistakes of modern medicine. So much can be learned when adoctor listens intently and actively to a patient’s story. The great news is that you don’t need a doctor to hear your story for you to heal. Youcan do this on your own. And one of the reasons that you want to do this is that youwant to find what I call the BIG DOMINO. This is what triggered the thyroid issues in thefirst place. Most likely there have been  MANY triggers, but your body was able to manage orcompensate. But then you were exposed to the straw that broke the camel’s back andit acted as a sort of trip wire or a falling domino, triggering a cascade of events andthen symptoms.

Finding and identifying your triggers is a step that cannot be skipped, yet it almostalways is when women are treated by their conventional doctors. This relates to whatwe were talking about in Video #1... You go see your doctor and he diagnoses you with hypothyroidism and Hashimoto’s.He says your body isn’t making enough thyroid hormone, so he gives you thyroidmedication, and tells you to come back in a few months to do more blood work.  This is kind of like filling a gas tank with a huge hole in it. You can keeping topping it off,but don’t be surprised if you’re stranded a few minutes later without gas. Finding thehole in the tank (and more importantly, what CAUSED it) is like finding the triggers. - Triggers are events, exposures, and situations that… - Stimulate immune system and cause you to make antibodies - Create inflammation - Keep you from downstream thyroid activities (more to come) - Tax your support crew Think of an elaborate set of dominoes, beautifully organized and arranged. Yet oncethat first domino falls, it kicks off a string events. Did you play the game Mouse Trapwhen you were younger? It all starts with a big boot kicking over a bucket. Then about6 other things happen before the trap falls on the mouse.  Hashimoto’s is the trap falling on your thyroid and the result is your thyroid starts underor over-performing. (That means it either makes to little or too much thyroid hormone.)But what came before that, and before that, and before that? What was the initial bootkick? Why do you have a hole in your gas tank?

Part of the reason finding and identifying triggers is so powerful is that it validates youand how you are feeling and it helps to explain WHY you feel the way you do (despitetrying to feel better). It takes the mystery away from the experience and pulls you outof what can feel like a tailspin. This is the detective work that is going to translate into HUGE dividends for you andyour health. Because once you do, you can finally begin your healing process. If youignore this, you stay on the hamster wheel. You keep adding gas to a tank with a holein it and wonder why you can’t make it more than 3 miles without running out of gas,exhausted. One thing to keep in mind, once you find the BIG DOMINO or your initial main trigger,you’ll likely find this snowballs into other triggers. That’s why I call it the BIG DOMINO.Once this bad boy falls, it’s just the beginning. But the great thing is, once you findthese, you can immediately start taking care of business. It doesn’t matter how big thetrigger is or how many triggers you have, Once you find them, it's time to REDUCE andREMOVE them! What infections have you had or been exposed to, and did you take antibiotics?(Viruses like influenza or mono, bacteria, tonsillitis, strep throat, UTIs, sinus infections,traveler’s diarrhea)

Think about when your symptoms started or when they’ve worsened or flared, whatwas going on in your life at the time? Were you under more physical or emotionalstress? (Here is a list to jog your memory: Divorce, marriage, death in the family,attending college/grad school, exams, moving, surgery, in an accident, lost a job orchanging jobs, caring for a sick family member, pregnant or just gave birth,breastfeeding) Do you take or have you taken prescription or over-the-counter medications?(Antibiotics, Proton Pump Inhibitors/PPIs or medication for reflux/GERD like Prilosec,birth control pills etc)

After you identify and reduce or remove triggers, the next step is doing what I call aSYSTEMS CHECK. Think of a pilot sitting in the cockpit of an airplane. She has a veryorganized and strategic way of looking at and testing each and every one of her leversand gauges before she even considers taking off. By doing this, she checks in on and gets feedback from all of the different parts of theaircraft (even the areas she can’t see). This also helps her decide on her flight plan. One way that you can do this is by checking labs. But here’s the thing, most doctorsonly order labs to determine if you are producing too much or too little thyroidhormone, and then they use this information to decide how much thyroid hormonemedication to give you. They stop there. This is like trying to fly a plane with only onegauge and hoping for the best. The problem with this is that: - It only gives you a very tiny bit of information. - Giving someone thyroid medication by looking at (often very limited) labs alone is thinking inside of the box. I like to look at labs as gauges or indicator lights that... - Can help us find even more triggers or blind spots - Let us know how the body (specifically The Crew) is responding to triggers - Help us focus attention (where to support) - Act as a measuring stick/point of reference - How is what we are doing working?

When ordering labs, always think outside of the Thyroid Box. Remember that “normal” and “ideal” reference ranges are completely different. You need to know more than TSH and T4. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Think aboutthe cockpit. How many gauges and indicators lights are there? The same goes for yourbody. Think “Downstream” from the thyroid. Making the hormone is just one of the first steps. Just because you have “enough”hormone, doesn’t mean you feel well, right? If it did, you would take your thyroidmedication and feel like Wonder Woman! Making thyroid hormone is kind of like manufacturing a kid’s toy but stopping at thefactory. They toy needs to be packaged, put on a truck, then on a plane or boat, backon a truck, delivered to your house, unpacked and then have batteries put in beforeyou see the end result. The same goes for thyroid hormone. That’s why you can have “normal” labs and stillfeel like crap! Above all, remember that very rarely should you put all of your eggs into your thyroidlabs basket. What I mean by this is that labs are only a piece of this puzzle. They giveus insight and guidance, but they are usually not the end-all-be-all. Don’t forget thateven something as simple as HOW YOU FEEL can trump what a lab result tells us. Think outside of the box, and use labs as a tool for your healing and your success. .   TIPS & TRICKS

What thyroid labs have you had and what were your results? Did you have labs beyondTSH and T4? Have you checked to see how your Crew is going? (This means checking on youradrenal glands, your liver, your ovaries and more.) USE LABS TO LOOK “DOWNSTREAM” FROM THE THYROID - From assembly line to aworking product: - FREE hormone available versus BOUND hormone (Transportation) - Is your body ACTIVATING your T4? (Activation) - Can your thyroid hormone get into the cells and do its job? Are your cells “starving”for thyroid even though there is plenty in your body? (Entry) - Is the thyroid hormone able to do its job once it goes through the door into your cells?(Action) .

A key shift in thinking Outside of the Thyroid Box is understanding that so manytriggers and symptoms have NOTHING to do with the THYROID and everything do towith what I call the “Crew.” The Crew includes other organs and glands that do one or more of the following: Support the thyroid Compensate for the thyroid (help take over for the thyroid gland while it’s under attack) Impact or influence the thyroid Communicate with the thyroid Are part of the immune system/immune response So, you might be thinking, “Who’s on this crew you speak of?” Well, let’s take a look…. The LIVER The ADRENAL GLANDS The GUT (including the stomach and intestines) The PANCREAS The OVARIES The THYROID itself (we can’t forget about that guy!) Now, don’t get all freaked out or let your eyes glass over. This isn’t an anatomy andphysiology lecture. You simply need to know that you CAN NOT heal the thyroidwithout keeping the crew in mind. No organ, including the thyroid, functions in isolation.The organs of the body are connected in infinite ways (many which we aren’t evenaware of).

If your doctor is treating your thyroid without addressing The Crew, or if he or shedismisses you when you ask about how these organs and glands play a part in howyou feel, let that be a BIG WARNING! The crew can be impacted by triggers and, in their attempt to help the thyroid, caneven become triggers themselves. But, since you now know how important identifying, reducing and removing triggersare, when you do that, you’ll immediately and naturally start supporting the Crew. And the greatest part is that you don’t need a doctor or a prescription to do this! You can do it through: -->simple changes in your diet (yes, I said simple) --> Incorporating herbs and supplements (Herbs are extremely powerful and safe, andoften more effective than prescription medications. This isn’t lip service. Drugcompanies spend billions dollars to do their best to copy the results of herbs with littlesuccess and lots of side effects) --> Movement (not even exercise, just moving your body, as little as 60 seconds!) --> Stress management --> Mindset shifts (more to come)

What foods can you eat or avoid to support your crew? What food acts as a trigger orfeeds the trigger flames? Are you low in nutrients? What nutrients do The Crew need to do their job and supportyou? What herbs could you add easily to your food, diet or supplement routine that couldhelp stabilize your blood sugar, reduce inflammation, manage the stress response orhelp fight off viruses and bacteria?

It’s official. I’ve saved the best for last. You see, as important and essential as the first 3steps are, true transformation and the real magic happens when you shift the mind. Depending on where you are at in your life and in your health journey, talking about thesubconscious mind may sound super “out there” (you cray-cray, girl) or it may be “rightup your alley” (bring on the woo-woo!). The reality is your subconscious or unconscious brain controls 95% of the decisions youmake every single day. Don’t believe me? Ask the scientists that proved it by mappingbrain activity while asking people to freely choose one of 2 buttons. Turns out their brains decided FOR them 7 seconds BEFORE they thought they madethey conscious decision. Can I get a mic drop, please? Now, you have one of two options: You can get creeped out, freaked out, or simplyrefuse to accept this. OR you can dance around in your pajamas and see this as yourGOLDEN TICKET (anyone remember the original Willy Wonka??) Why? Well, the subconscious brain works out of habit. And let me tell you something,EVERYTHING is a habit: every thought, every belief, everything you do or don’t do is ahabit. And these habits have been etched into your mind like a path over time. These habits not only influence your thoughts and actions, they impact YOUR BODY,whether it be through hormones, or blood flow or even your DNA.  In order to get you the results you want, you need to take a good look at thesesubconscious habits. If you hear this enough and believe it, it becomes a habit. Has your doctor said that it’s all in your head? Have they told you to ‘just deal with it’?Do you question your ability to heal and feel like yourself again? These are all habits of thought, and it’s time to BREAK THESE bad boys! And you canTOTALLY do it! Start doing an inventory of your thoughts. The easiest way to do this is my payingattention to the stories you tell yourself each and every day. What are your stories? Arethey serving or sabotaging you? Once you really GET this and it goes from a concept toyour reality, the sky is Thyroid Limit! Whew!!! We did it! YOU did it! You've officially taken the next step toward healing yourthyroid, and I straight up could not be happier for you. Seeing you succeed andwitnessing your transformation and rise above the thyroid disease ashes is what ringsmy bells and makes my heart soar.  Above all, remember that YOU have everything it takes to not only survive thyroiddisease, but to reverse it, heal your thyroid and THRIVE!
