Transfer StudentsTransfer students from other colleges with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 will be accepted for undergraduate studies. Transfer students with a GPA below 2.0 will be admitted on academic probation. Students must submit a letter of appeal to the Vice President for Student Services.
Transferring Your Credits Students must have official transcripts directly from the official student
records office of each previously attended institution. Transcripts may be sent electronically to [email protected] or by mail to 1500 N. Third Street, Grants, NM 87020.
New Mexico State University Grants accepts academic credits for transfer from regionally accredited institutions of higher education or those that are candidates for regional accreditation.
Any student who conceals the fact that he/she has attended another college or university and has not submitted a transcript for each institution — whether or not credit was earned — will be subject to immediate suspension.
Evaluation of Transfer Credits Credits earned at community/junior colleges and universities are always
transferred at the lower division level. Credits from non-accredited institutions may be evaluated after the
student has shown acceptable performance at NMSU Grants for two semesters of full-time enrollment.
NMSU maintains a database of commonly transferred courses from numerous institutions. This can be found at nmsudirect.nmsu.edu/.
Each college determines which transferred courses are applicable towards degree or a certificate.
Transfer Policy: Associate Degrees Transferring in with an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science
(AS) degree from a regionally accredited institution may waive certain NMSU requirements such as foreign language, computer, and NM general education core.
NMSU recognizes that while many students aspire to similar goals, they often have different starting points. With that in mind we have programs that can help you earn the degree you want.
In the Aggie Pathway Program, our campuses, including NMSU Grants, work together to navigate you towards a bachelor’s degree — even if you initially don’t meet admissions requirements to the university.
Who’s it for?We welcome any student starting at one of our four community colleges who intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree from NMSU Las Cruces.
How does it work?Once admitted to the program, you will complete orientation and enroll in courses at an NMSU community college. Upon completion of 24 college-level credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA, you are eligible to transfer to the NMSU Las Cruces campus.
