amazing group of young people who have done just that and show that young people really can do it for

themselves.

and what you are up to.

Publishing Team: Leading Writers

The YoUFA Board has now been running for almost 2 years and has had 5 meetings. The main purpose of the YoUFA board continues to focus on young people’s leadership, voice and influence in the continuing development of YoUFA.

The last board meeting focused on the future of YoUFA and the board worked on putting a vision and a YoUFA development plan together. The YoUFA Board decided that YoUFA could also be local where young people are able to make new friends, build

their confidence and self esteem, get support,

encouragement and step up to lead others

making sure every young person’s voice is heard.

YoUFA’s Vision:

‘By 2014 YoUFA will be a strong, vibrant

network and a widely recognised national network of a least

2000 young people with 9 regional Youth Ambassadors representing young people at the national YoUFA Board, YoUFA will run a celebration event for young people and have evidence of the impact YoUFA has had on its members’

(YoUFA Board Members - March 2011)

We want to know what you think? And any ideas you have about how you and your school could be part in making this vision a reality.

We can offer accreditation through the Open College Network (OCN). It is called ‘Young Leader training’.

You will need to spend some time putting a folder of evidence together which contains your comments, photos, club plans, together with some witness and feedback statements from the adult who supported you.

Caz and Insia would be very happy to help you to do it!

Just get in touch with us!It’s a great opportunity to build up your CV in preparation for college

interviews, your UCAS personal statement and

it will even look fantastic when presenting it to an

UFA were through to the FINAL stages of the People’s Millions to run a fantastic project in Birmingham called Lead it! to provide opportunities for young people across Birmingham inspiring them to become young leaders and train them to lead fun, challenging exciting clubs for other

young people in their communities.

The UFA team, young people and lots of people all around the coun-try joined us with our campaigning to try win this money and make the project into a reality. Unfortunately this time it wasn’t for us but that does not mean it is over! Just a pit stop in the journey. We want to say a massive thank you to everyone who picked up the phone and voted for us. We had a great time during the whole process and had some of the most interesting conversations and met amazing people along the way. We are still determined to make this project into a reality so if you have any ideas about how we can

do this or maybe know of some local pots of money just waiting to be used to run some UFA activity then please get in touch. Let’s

get our creative hats on and find exciting ways of making Lead it! happen. Watch this space.
