Grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ

The Apostle Peter summarized his epistle (2 Peter) in the closing verses of his letter. In verse 17, he warned them of the devastating effect of false teachings.

“You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error

of lawless people and lose your own stability.”2 Pet 3:17

He likened false teachings into a torrent knocking off every believer off their feet. The losing of one’s salvation is not in view here, because a true believer is secured in the hands of God (John 10:28-30). He is able to keep us from falling and present us faultless before His glorious presence (Jude 24). Peter had in mind the fading away of a believer’s steadfastness because of false teachings.

Such was the concern of Peter, and such is our concern in GCF East.

There is no shortage of false teachings around us. In fact, there seems to be a prevalence of such everywhere in the world. More often than not some false teachings and teachers are undetectable at first glance. As they say, even a broken clock is correct two times a day. Thus just because a teaching or a teacher sounds and seems right, necessarily mean that they are. There is a need then for discernment in the part of the believer to be testing every spirit (teaching, teacher, philosophy, etc).

The mandate of the church is to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Grow in Christ, grow in His Grace. Simply put: to feast on the Person and Work of Jesus Christ, as revealed in His inerrant Word, dependent totally on His grace for His Word to exude in our lives for God’s utmost glory.

Our pulpit, with God’s grace has been faithful to the exposition of God’s Word. Your pastors and elders have a high regard for God’s Word. We strive hard to adhere to a Biblical Philosophy of Ministry. But we want to be proactive and be more protective, so we covet your prayers and support. We aspire to glorify God all the more as we strengthen our Growth Groups. It is our desire to see every existing and new growth groups, growing in grace and in the knowledge of Jesus.

Please be praying for this and if the Lord is gripping your hearts to be involved (leading, hosting or being part of a growth group) kindly approach any of your elders so we can accommodate and guide your aspiration for Biblical growth.

May GCF East, continue to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
