or supplements.

Approximately 300 million people are obese.What causes it?Large portion sizesSoda and caloric

sweetenersLack of exercise and

fast/processed foodsCorn products in all

foods

GMOs(Genetically Modified Organisms)

Nature materials are altered using genetic engineering techniques

Creates foods and genes that are unstable

These do not occur in nature

Make up 80% of conventional processed food in the U.S.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

This is a modified glucose-fructose that

has undergone enzymatic processing

to produce an addictive sweetness.

In most frozen/processed foods

The body takes it differently than natural glucose

Leads to obesity

DiabetesThis is a disease in which one

cannot properly regulate blood sugar levels.

Closely linked with genetics, obesity, diet and exercise

Body becomes insulin resistant (can’t uptake sugar)

Long-term consequences include;Cardiovascular diseaseDamage to the blood vessels and

strokesAmputation, numbness, blindness,

and kidney failure

How to Eat Good Foods

Look for organic labelsMake sure items have less than 5

ingredientsless red meat and more lean protein

Use a grocery list and shop the perimeterGrow your own food or use local farmers

markets
