2015 Toño Albariño Toño (Ton Yo) is the familiar or nickname of Antonio in the Spanish language. Toño wines are a modern take on Spanish winemaking heritage, grown in the sunny Hawke’s Bay. Wines that are fun, delicious and reflect the Hawke’s Bay lifestyle. Vineyard: Craft Farm Location: Havelock North Style: Aromatic white wine Food match: Seafood Numbers: pH 3.19 TA 6.90 g/L RS 4.0 g/L Alc 13.0% Winemaking: The grapes were hand-picked and whole bunch pressed to tank. After settling the juice was fermented with an aromatic yeast to enhance the varietal character. Once acid and sugar balance was achieved the wine was chilled to stop the fermentation. After a short maturation the wine was bottled. Tasting note: Aromatic notes of grapefruit, peach and white flowers. An interesting mineral note of wet stone is also apparent. The palate is full bodied with a crisp and salty texture and a long refreshing finish.
