• 2 years warranty• –80°C atmospheric dew point• 4.14 to 27.6 MPA design pressure• Operator interface available on all models• Includes coalescing pre-filter and after filter• Protection of desiccant from hydro-carbons

with an activated carbon tower• Built under ISO9001-2000 quality control standards

A d v a n t a g e :

• Dry air prevents corrosion• Low dew points eliminates condensation

and prevents freeze ups• Supply proper air for air blast circuit breakers• Exercise timer to insure the designed

dew point at all time

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATIONXebec high-pressure dryers are fully automatic. Continuous drying is accomplished by the operation of two desiccant towers. Air is being dried under pressure by passing through one desiccant bed while the other bed isbeing reactivated.

REACTIVATIONReactivation of the wet desiccant is accomplished without the use of heat. A small portion of the dried processair, called purge, is passed through the wet desiccant bed at near atmospheric pressure. This super dry air stripsthe desiccant of all water vapour previously adsorbed.

General

All functions of the operation of the dryer are performed automatically by an OMRON® programmable logic controller (PLC). A touch screen is used as interface with the operator. The information displayed are:

• Dryer flow schematic• Graphical and numerical display of the chamber pressures

and filter differential pressures.• Indication of the dryer status (position, alarms, etc)• For each alarm, a list of corrective actions

to resolve the problem is displayed.

The dryer standard operation is on a 20 minutes total cycle, 10 minutes for drying, 10 minutes for reactivation. Switching air from one tower to the other is fully automatic. In order to prevent line surgesand to minimise desiccant attrition, switching over from one tower to the other is carried out when both towers areat equal pressure.

Both depressurisation and purge flows are in a counter-current direction to drying.

Dew pointThe standard atmospheric dew point performance of the dryer is –80°C.

Counter-current reactivationReactivation purge flow is counter-current to the direction of airflow during drying. This assures maximum removal of moisturefrom the desiccant bed and lowest dew point during the adsorption (drying) cycle.

Controlled depressurisationA controlled depressurisation assures minimum movement of the desiccant. If the desiccant moves inside the towers, a lost of efficiency could be observed due to attrition and abrasion of thedesiccant beads.

Controlled repressurisationPrior to the switchover, the reactivated desiccant tower is repressurised to full line pressure to prevent line surges and minimise desiccant attrition.

Purge rateThe purge rate of the Xebec high-pressure dryer is controlled byan orifice, sized to suit the specific operation conditions.

Fail safe designOn power and/or pilot air failure, the purge exhaust valves close. The dryer will continue to deliver low dew point and prevent lossof air.

Swagelok® ValvesAll 2 way valves used on Xebec high-pressure dryers areSwagelok®, stainless steel. They offer the best durability and performance.

Check valveXebec exclusive check valve mono-bloc is designed to be easy tomaintain and highly reliable.

Desiccant and carbon towerDesigned and fabricated in accordance with the ASME code sectionVIII, division 1.

All models include diffusers at the bottom of the towers to assure pro-per distribution of the air. A strainer is installed at the top of the towerto prevent carry over of desiccant or activated carbon particles.

Neither valves nor piping require removal for the replacement of desiccant or activated carbon.

Tower access plugs are treated to avoid any gaoling.

Automatic switching valveAll models use a stainless steel 4 way valve equipped with a limitswitch and position indicator. All other valves are stainless steelSwagelok® 2 way ball valves.

Manual valvesAll manual valves are lockable stainless steel Swagelok® ball valves toinsure the security of the user.

Check valvesThe main check valves are housed in a single bloc that is easy to accessand maintain. The plugs and fittings are treated to prevent gaoling.

Tubing and fittingsAll tubing is made of heat treated seamless stainless steel 304.All compression fittings are Swagelok® stainless steel.

Fittings with zero clearance o-ring seals are installed at strategic placesto insure simple maintenance of the components of the dryer.
