E n t r a n c e P r o c e s s i o n The Statue of Our Lady of Fatima that is here today was blessed by Pope St. John Paul II in 1987. Inside the statue are relics of St. Francisco and St. Jacinta and of the tree of Fatima. The crown was purchased in Portugal, and although it is a different style from the famous crown used in Fatima today, it does have a copy of the bullet that was placed into that crown after Pope St. John Paul II had brought it to Fatima as a symbol of his thanks to Our Lady for saving his life on 5/13/81. Entrance Hymn: Immaculate Mary 1. Immaculate* Mary, your praises we sing, You reign* now in heaven with Jesus, our King. Refrain: Ave, ave, ave Maria! Ave, ave, ave Maria! * 2. In heaven the blessed your glory proclaim*; On earth we your children invoke* your fair name. Refrain: Ave, ave, ave Maria! Ave, ave, ave Maria! * 3. We pray for our Mother, the Church upon earth, and bless, Holy Mary, the land of our birth. Refrain: Ave, ave, ave Maria! Ave, ave, ave Maria! *

Prayer of Entrustment*

O Virgin Mary, my Mother, I give to your Immaculate* Heart my body and my soul, my thoughts and my actions. I want to be just what you want me to be, and do just what you want me to do. I am not afraid because you are always with me. Help me to love your Son, Jesus, with all my heart and above all things. Take my hand in yours so I can always be with you.

For He alone is worthy. For He alone is worthy, Christ the Lord. Opening Prayer: (Presider) Lord, give to our hearts the light of faith and the fire of love, that we may worship in spirit and truth our God and Lord, present in this sacrament, who lives and reigns forever and ever. Adoration* Hymn: Jesus in the Eucharist

Jesus, my Lord, faithful and true, your precious love carries me through. Come into my heart, create it anew, So filled with your love I may love too. Here we are, Lord, children of the world, answering Your call, we come to pray. O Jesus hid’n, in the Eucharist, You give us peace , you give us rest.

F a t i m a P r a y e r s o f R e p a r a t i o n The Angel of Peace visited the children one year before Our Lady did and taught them about reparation. Reparation means to pray and to perform sacrifices to try to “repair" or make up for the hurt that God feels when people forget about Him, especially when they do not have the proper respect for Jesus in the Eucharist. As a result, the children came to have a great love for Jesus in the Eucharist.

Pardon* Prayer My God, I believe, I adore, I hope, and I love You! I ask pardon* of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love You! Eucharistic Prayer O most Holy Trinity, I adore You! My God, my God, I love You in the most Blessed Sacrament!

Angel’s Prayer Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly*, and I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation* for the outrages*, sacrileges*, and indifference* with which He Himself is offended*. And, through the infinite* merits of His most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion* of poor sinners.

Sacrifice Prayer* O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of You the conversion of poor sinners.

Profoundly – very deeply from a person’s heart Reparation – making up for the wrongs that were done Outrages – extremely disrespectful actions Sacrileges – actions of great disrespect for holy things Indifference – not caring about someone or something Offended – when God is treated with disrespect Infinite – no beginning and no end, eternal. Conversion – to have sorrow in our hearts for our sins

Adoration - the honor and glory we give to God alone. When we sing this hymn to Jesus in the Eucharist, we show our love for Jesus in the Eucharist just as the shepherd children of Fatima did. We cannot see Him, but we believe that He is truly there. That is why the children called Him the “hidden Jesus.”

Our Lady taught the children to say this prayer when performing some sacrifice. A sacrifice is something that we do even though we may not want to, like making our bed or cleaning our room without complaining. With this prayer, we offer our sacrifice to God for the conversion of sinners, which means that we pray that sinners will realize what their sins are and decide to change. We are also praying to repair the damage caused by the sins and to make up for the wrong things that were done.

Pardon - forgiveness

W o r l d M i s s i o n R o s a r y The World Mission Rosary was created in 1951 by Bishop Fulton J. Sheen as a way “to embrace the whole world in prayer.” The beads of each decade are a different color, each color symbolizing a different region of the world.

The Apostles' Creed: (Presider) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; on the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from there He shall come to judge the living and the dead. (All) I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Sorrowful Mysteries

First Sorrowful Mystery: The Agony in the Garden

The green beads represent the forests and grassland of Africa.

Second Sorrowful Mystery: The Scourging at the Pillar

The red beads call to mind the fire of faith that brought missionaries to the Americas

Third Sorrowful Mystery: The Crowning with Thorns The white beads symbolize Europe, the seat of the Holy Father.

.

Fourth Sorrowful Mystery: The Carrying of the Cross The color blue represents the oceans of the Islands of the Pacific.

Fifth Sorrowful Mystery: The Crucifixion The yellow beads represent the morning light of the East for Asia.

Hail Holy Queen Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished* children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning* and weeping in this valley of tears*. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile , show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! ! Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, ! That we may be worthy of the promises of Christ.

Banished – sent away as punishment Mourning – being very sad and/or sorrowful Valley of tears- we are not in our real home in heaven Advocate – someone who takes our side and helps us Exile – living away from our real home in heaven Clement – kind and merciful

(All) Amen.

Benediction The blessing of the congregation with the Eucharistic Host, which has been placed in a special container called a monstrance. We kneel as the priest holds the monstrance and blesses us with it. As the priest does this, Jesus blesses all of us who are present and all the people and intentions we bring to Him in our hearts.

Beatification – a step in the process of Canonization – the process the Church uses to declare a deceased person to be a saint Profoundly – very deeply from a person’s heart and soul Apparitions – miraculous visits from Jesus, Mary, angels or saints Immaculate – completely pure, without any sin Infinite – no beginning and no end, eternal Intercession – asking Mary or a saint to pray with us Implore – to ask for, beg

Tantum Ergo – This is the Latin name for the Eucharistic hymn composed by St. Thomas Aquinas which is traditionally sung at Benediction, when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for Adoration. Rites – guidelines for Church celebrations Prevail - prove more powerful Proceeding – coming forth

We follow a custom today that comes from Fatima, Portugal. At the end of the Mass that is celebrated outdoors in front of the basilica each Sunday, the Statue of Our Lady is carried down the steps and through the plaza to be returned to the Chapel of Apparitions which marks the spot where the apparitions took place in 1917. As the statue passes by, thousands of pilgrims enthusiastically wave white handkerchiefs as a sign of farewell and affection, keeping in their hearts their love for Our Lady and the memory of their pilgrimage. These they will bring with them when they return to their homes. Let us each do the same.

Hail, Holy Queen* 1. Hail holy Queen enthroned above; O Maria!

Hail mother of mercy and of love. O Maria! Triumph* all ye cherubim*; sing with us ye seraphim*! Heav’n and earth resound* the hymn; Salve, salve, salve Regina!*

2. Our life, our sweetness here below, O Maria!

Our hope in sorrow and in woe*. O Maria! Triumph* all ye cherubim*; sing with us ye seraphim*! Heav’n and earth resound* the hymn; Salve, salve, salve Regina*!

3. And when our life breath leaves us, O Maria!

Show us thy Son, Christ Jesus. O Maria! Triumph* all ye cherubim*; sing with us ye seraphim*! Heav’n and earth resound* the hymn; Salve, salve, salve Regina*!

Paraclete – helper, comforter Immaculate Conception – Mary was free from all sin from the moment of Her conception Assumption – Mary’s body taken to heaven by God Chaste – pure and faithful

The Hail, Holy Queen is a hymn that gives honor to Mary as queen of heaven and earth. We sing to her as our Mother who gives us hope when we turn to her with our problems. We ask the angels in heaven to sing with us as we sing this hymn on earth. Triumph – being part of a victory procession Cherubim and seraphim – different types of angels Resound - echo Salve Regina – Latin for “hail” or “greetings to the Queen” Woe – extreme sadness
