China wins Team Event World University Badminton Championship

China consigue el oro en la competición por equiposChina has won the gold medal after winning Malaysia 3-0,

winning all matches played in the tournament. The Chinese team

ratifies the medal obtained in the 2012 edition.

Also Malaysia has done a great competition, getting silver medal.

Completing the podium

are Chinese-Taipei and

Korea after have been

defeated by China and

Malaysia respectively,

being this last match

very exciting.

Sunday the event will

c o n t i n u e w i t h t h e

individual competition.

The draw was done on

Saturday.

After the final match

between China and

Malaysia the Award

C e r e m o n y w a s

celebrated, during which

medals were awarded

by Mrs Alison Odell,

FISU First Assessor, Lawrence Chew BWF representative and

David Cabello, FISU Executive Committee member and Spanish

Badminton Federation President. Trophies to the teams were

presented by Mrs. Rosario Mérida, Vice-Rector of University Life

and Social Responsibility, and Mr. Miguel Reina, Sports

Councillor.

Once the Award Ceremony concluded, all participants could take

photos with Ukito, the event's mascot.

From Sunday to Tuesday people can see again the players in

Vista Alegre Venue trying to win the individual championship in

five disciplines, Men's Single, Women's Single, Men's Double,

Women's Double and Mixed Double.

China se ha adjudicado de forma irrebatible la medalla de oro

tras ganar a Malasia de forma contundente por 3-0 tras no ceder

en ningún partido de los disputados en el torneo, el conjunto

chino el título logrado en la edición del 2012. Malasia, que

completa una gran

competición tras

derrotar -entre otras

a Corea del Sur- se

alza con la medalla

d e p l a t a . L a s

medallas de bronce

quedan para China-

Taipei y Corea del

Sur que cayeron,

respectivamente,

ante China por 3-0 y

Malasia por 3-2,

este último en un

e n c u e n t r o

apasionante.

En la jornada del

domingo continúan

los Campeonatos del Mundo Universitarios con la disputa de las

pruebas individuales. El sorteo de las mismas se ha realizado en

la jornada del sábado.

Tras la final celebrada esta tarde, tuvo lugar la Ceremonia de

Premiación donde la Vicerrectora de Vida Universitaria y

Responsabilidad Social de la UCO, Dña Rosario Mérida hizo

entrega del trofeo al equipo campeón. Hicieron también entrega

de trofeos y medallas a los segundos y terceros clasificados D.

Miguel Reina, Concejal de Deportes y Presidente del IMD de

Córdoba; D. David Cabello, Presidente de la Federación

Española de Bádminton y D. Laurence Chew, Presidente de la

Badminton World Federation.

Finalizado el acto, los participantes estuvieron haciéndose fotos

con UKITO, nuestra mascota, mientras los voluntarios y

operarios de la organización volvían a habilitar las seis pista de

juego para comenzar mañana con la Competición Individual y

Dobles. A partir de mañana y hasta el martes 29 volveremos a

ver sobre la pista de Vista Alegre a los deportistas luchar por la

de Alojamiento. También del traslado de los árbitros hasta la instalación de juego. Al

finalizar el campeonato coordinarán también de nuevo las salidas hacia los aeropuertos o

estaciones desde donde partan de regreso los participantes.

Manuel Cejudo is the Transport manager. Coordinates shipments of the various

delegations and VIPs from airports or train arrival to the accommodation area. Also the

transfer of the umpires to play sport venue. At the end of the championship again also

coordinate departures from airports or stations where participants departing back.

Mr. Enriquez tells us that he is living this championship as “a beautiful habit” because he has been working in

six sport events, the first one in 2007 as participant a University Rugby Championship.

He recognizes that usually in this sport injuries are mainly slight. He underlines that athletes use to be

grateful and polite. To conclude, he asserts that "I enjoy that events, and he spends his holidays on coming

to these championships, and I will keep doing it always I can”.

Dice que está viviendo el campeonato “ cómo una bonita costumbre”, ya que ya ha colaborado en 6 eventos

deportivos de esta envergadura, el primero en el año 2007 cómo participante del Campeonato Universitario

de rugbi, y el resto desarrollando su actividad profesional . Reconoce que normalmente en este deporte las

lesiones suelen ser leves. Resalta que los deportistas son agradecidos y respetuosos. Cómo conclusión de

la entrevista me mira de frente y con una amplia sonrisa comenta:” Da gusto trabajar en esto, cojo mis

vacaciones y las empleo en venir al Campeonato, y lo seguiré haciendo mientras el tiempo y las circunstancias me lo permitan”.

Sonia tells us that this championship is being more relaxed than others previous. She comments us that the

most typical injuries are muscle strain and ankle sprain, being Spain and Japan the teams which have

needed more medical attention.

Este campeonato está siendo más tranquilo que otros, y ha trabajado en varios. Comenta que las lesiones

más frecuentes son sobrecargas musculares y esguinces de tobillo. Los equipos a los que más ha atendido

han sido España y Japón.

Clara Cabello and Silvia Cadenas. Nurses. Spain.

The most typical injuries they have attended are minor hurts, blisters, and the first

day a case of dehydration. They assert that the countries which have needed more

medical attention are Ireland and Spain.

Las lesiones que más han atendido son heridas leves,

ampollas, bolsas de hielo y el primer día una deshidratación.

Los países a los que más han atendido son Irlanda y

España, y los menos Japón y Suiza.

Carlo’s function is to supervise Vista Alegre Sports Hall and to coordinate all people make possible a correct developing of the activities carried out there.

Casilda García López. Médico de

educación física y

del deporte. Spain.

Casilda is a doctor

specialized in

physical education

and sport. She is the person who realizes

the doping tests. She tells us that his

department collects urine samples from

athletes and then, send them to a

laboratory in madrid where the samples

are analyzed. The time required for

knowing the results is between 15 and 30

days. Mrs. García asserts that “it is

necessary to bet for a clean and fair

sport, being respectful with the rest of

athletes”.
