Dear Parents
Congratulations to our whole school community on their involvement for the P&C Lapathon
fundraiser. Despite the rain setting in our students gave it their all and many achieved the designated 10 laps. I know Mrs Williamson is very excited at the prospect of getting the new
faction shades for the athletics carnival next term. Thank you to the P & C for their help.
Yesterday, Principals and teacher representatives from across the region attended a workshop on
Keeping Our Workplace Safe. This was delivered by the Department of Education and the State Teachers Union. Over the next few months I will be working with the staff to develop strategies
to prevent and minimise the possibility of incidents in our school. We want to reinforce our commitment to build a culture of high student behaviour expectations to develop an environment
of “High performance – High Care” - a mandate of the department’s strategic plan. In addition I will be working with the School Board to develop guidelines for a Parent Code of conduct in line
with the current Code of Conduct for Staff. The outcome of this work will be to create an inclusive environment that respects the diversity of our students, families and the community.
The final two weeks of term have Friday assemblies with the Choir/Dance students performing next week and the final Friday will be the school NAIDOC assembly by Room 14. We are looking
forward to both of these performances.
Last week we farewelled our Chaplain Gerda Baalmann. I would like to acknowledge Gerda’s
contribution to the Leda Primary School community and wish her all the best for her future endeavours. While we are very sad to see her leave we are very excited to welcome our new
School Chaplain Michelle Grobbelaar who has already provided us with outstanding support. Mrs Knight - Principal

The Year 6’s of Room 25 held a LEDA Survivor assembly performance on Friday, 25th May. The students were divided into the Artists and the Athletes tribes and the teachers were the Educators tribe. Mr Scott represented the Educators tribe for the puzzle challenge but unfortunately, failed to impress with the Artists tribe winning. Miss Kirby did better in the building challenge but again Artists tribe prevailed. Finally, Miss Wells (a visiting practicum student from Notre Dame) tried her best at the eating challenge but could not eat the slimy worm spaghetti quick enough and once again, Artists tribe won. At the Tribal Council, the tribes spoke and Miss Wells had to leave the game. Tyler did an awesome job as our host and everyone was entertained at the antics.

On Friday 8th June Mrs Beauchamp, Mrs Castelanelli and Ms Maguire's combined classes (Rm 9 and 10) sang a
medley of songs focused on Harmony Day celebrated earlier this term. The songs were in various languages of
countries from which some of our students have come
from. Harmony Day is a celebra*on of our cultural
diversity building respect and inclusivity. The students
all wore white shirts with orange hand prints
symbolising friendship which Ms Hornby completed for
both classes. At the conclusion, Isabel from Rm 11
reminded the audience, diversity is not about how we
differ but how we can embrace everyone’s uniqueness.
Well done to everyone’s efforts!
