ImpactE – the starting point in better researchers’ integration
What is our goal? What did we achieved until now?
What are the next steps? ◦ WS 4 – Intercultural Dialogue was focused on how
to improve Euraxess services to improve Euraxess services ◦ We analyzed the results of a survey on researchers’
needs◦ We put the researchers’ shoes and visited the 6
ImpactE countries ◦ We built 6 prototypes of cultural integration activities
WE BUILD A CULTURAL MAP OF EUROPE
Our targets are – EURAXESS staff and mobile researchers
◦ EURAXESS contact points can build concrete activities – socialising programs and events, contacts with other institutions (municipalities, museums, etc.) which organize social events, museums, etc.) which organize social events, welcome packages with intercultural sections, …
◦ Researchers participate in building the activities(by filling in the matrix – providing their impressions), they receive personal help, training and socialising events
This is work in progress
Workshop 4 Intercultural Dialog
GLOBAL RESEARCHERS?
UK drives on the left, BG nods reversely– What is specific to your country ? – What is specific to your country ?
The participants shared opinions, ideas, questions about
CULTURAL DIFFERENCES in the ERA
Workshop 4 Intercultural Dialog
ObjectivesThrough the workshop, participants had to:◦ Experience and become more aware of the existence of
cultural misunderstandings and conflicts ◦ Be introduced the first stages of an evolving ◦ Be introduced the first stages of an evolving
methodology to diagnose the issues faced by foreign researchers in their own country/institution
◦ Develop an understanding of how they can help researchers (all researchers, foreign or not, can benefit from intercultural competency) to overcome intercultural difficulties , by exchanging views with the other participants about their practices
Workshop 4 Intercultural Dialog
Expected Outcomes
◦ Identification of the most frequent difficulties faced by foreign researchers in specific countries
◦ Identification of best practice to improve the intercultural competency of researchers
◦ Identification of sample programs for training researchers about intercultural dialogue

INTERCULTURAL & PROFESSIONAL SKILLS
Why is this combination important? Why is this combination important?
NEED BOTH SET OF SKILLS
See Vitae's Researcher Development Framework
Conclusions
Indeed...
- Can international researchers be efficient if not culturallyintegrated, confortable in their environment ?
- Can you be an efficient researcher without properprofessional training adapted to your social & culturalcontext?
Towards
Combination of intercultural & professional training for researchers
