OCTOBER/NOVEMBER Parent’s Information evening Assembly for students Vacancies on school website. PSHE lessons introduce Veryann site

(when available) and WE process to students.

The School website will contain a section for Yr 10 Work Experience

You can view or download letters, forms and powerpoints

A list of possible placements will be available to view in an Excel format.

As soon as available students will also be able to access the Veryann site with Health and Safety information included.

Until this year it was administered by the Suffolk County Council Work Experience unit for all Suffolk schools.

The Unit has fallen victim to budget cuts and schools and Colleges have had to make new arrangements to ensure placements continue to be inspected regularly according to their risk level.

The Education Business Partnership, located in Ipswich, is taking over this role and will be funded by the schools using its services.

Arrangements are being finalised and hopefully you and your children will soon be able to access the job descriptions as before.

The school will still be responsible for deciding whether a placement is suitable and I will ensure that all placements have had the necessary checks.

Own choice forms are only for placements that are not already on the 2012 List of placements.

Choose 3 placements and write the correct information in the boxes.

Avoid placements which already have several other applicants.

Only apply for a school or nursery place if you have a genuine interest in childcare.

Do not apply for a place in a school you have attended as a pupil.

Make sure you can travel to the placements you choose.

Please ask your parents to complete the bottom of the form.

Pupils may find placements in other parts of the country

Health and Safety checks are still necessary

Minimum 12 weeks notice needed for a London placement

If a new inspection is needed there is a fee of £40 or more

All placements are assessed for suitability and graded into Low, Medium and High risk

Comprehensive checks are carried out on employers’ Health and Safety systems

Assurance is sought that students are not exposed to prohibited activities, materials and equipment

You will soon be able check the details on the Veryann site

Employers will notify the parents (via the school) of any significant risk. Parents must acknowledge receipt of this information

Placement providers must have at least £2 million of Public liability and £2 million Employer liability before they can take students
