Twenty years to magnify, build, exalt, praise, and enjoy rich blessings while enduring the measurements
of time. How excellent it is serving God.
As we embark upon the second component of the quadrennial theme, what joy fills my heart as I declare
that the East Pensacola District Officers have begun the work. Over the years there have been many
shifts in the atmosphere regarding leadership; however, celebration is in order as I proclaim that
during the 10 years of my serving as District President, the 2015-2016 Conference Year has proven
to be the best year ever. In addition to fulfilling the mission work, we not only met, but surpassed
our annual budget.
Personal Transformation

Celebrating my personal commitment to a balanced lifestyle: Spiritual, Personal and Professional

and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

WH&OM Society 2015-2019 Quadrennial Theme: “The Great Commission- A Global Outreach: Personal Calling,
Personal Transformation, Personal Instruction and Personal Commitment”
As President of the West Pensacola District WH&OM Society, I submit this report with love and deep appreciation. We
give praises to God from whom all blessings flow! This has been a very busy conference year but with God’s blessings
and being obedient to Him and our calling, we have had a very successful year! However; as missionaries, we understand
that our work is never done as we will continue to labor in the vineyard.
The commitment and faithfulness of the District Officers have been unwavering. In September of 2015 the District
Officers traveled to beautiful Pensacola Beach to a Renewal of the Mind, Body and Soul Retreat, coordinated by Mrs.
Barbara Knight, Secretary of Supply. Our main focus was to set goals for the conference year and to renew ourselves
spiritually to accomplish those goals through our own Personal Calling. We have held twelve monthly meetings, four
mass meetings and four workshops. We have observed our Annual Days. To expand our knowledge in helping to build
and strengthen God’s Kingdom the District Officers attended workshops and other events throughout the Alabama/Florida
Episcopal area. With much hard work and thanksgiving in our hearts we have met our financial obligations on the
Connectional, Episcopal and District levels. I will now give a brief overview of our dedicated work:
“Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will
give you, “because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” John 6:27

our Founder’s Day message and three youth Jayla Williams, Alana Longmire and Aria Patterson presented a skit on

Book Club Ministry-A Conference Book Club Ministry was birthed by Mrs. Ciara LaGroue, Local YAMS Coordinator
of Talbot Chapel. There is much buzz and excitement for as we push this ministry forward.
Community and Service Projects
Local involvement in the community is a must. We must go outside of the four walls within our church spreading the
“Good News.” The YAMS participated in bringing our community together with the “Big Cookout” sponsored by
Pensacola Community Arts and Recreation Association. It was an opportunity to have fun, minister to souls and give
away food. We ministered at two different Nursing Homes. Also, we participated in the Breast Cancer Walk and the
Spring into Health Walk sponsored by the Department of Supply. Our YAMS continue to partner with “Save Our City
Pensacola.” We are also partnering with the community to save the historical Ella Jordan House. The community is
working hard on the renovation of the Pensacola Federation of Colored Women’s Club Home located at 423 N. “C”
Street, Pensacola, Florida which was founded by Mrs. Ella L. Jordan.

Through my sickness, trials and tribulations, I believe God is up to something and I will continue to press to the higher
calling. I will continue through the Holy Spirit to seek God’s face as I walk this Journey. Being ordained a Deacon was a
feeling I cannot described. I have not been the same since. I will continue to “Trust in the Lord with all my heart, lean
not unto my own understanding. In all of my ways acknowledge Him and He will direct my path.”
To Bishop Seth O. Lartey and our Missionary Supervisor, Mrs. Jacqueline I. Williams-Lartey, I am looking forward to
working with you both. We will continue to pray that the Lord will use you both as He directs your path. I would like to
say a special thanks to Mrs. Georgia Philpot, West District President, for her wonderful encouragement and support. I
also extend thanks to my Pastor, Reverend John L. Philpot, Sr. for his loving spirit and his great training. To my husband
Reverend Jesse Turner who has been by my side. To the East and West District Officers and Presiding Elder Scott thank
you. Lastly, I truly thank God for He is worthy to be PRAISED! To those that continue to show us the way we are
thankful. YAMS Motto: “With hearts and hands we reach up to God for strength and directions. We reach out to love
and touch others. We reach down to lift fallen humanity.”

Conclusion
It is with sincere gratitude that I look back on this assignment with both joy and sadness. I entered this position
dedicated to serve and assist our youth in ways to help them achieve their potential on a God given level. The
journey has been one of discovery proving that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Philippians 4:13
I urge our youth to always remember and to never forget that “God’s Gifts” are the gifts that look good on you –
so wear them well. I am soliciting your prayers as I enter into the next level of service.

WE Go and Grow:
Episcopal Programs
As part of my desire to stay informed and give my best service to God and my church, I attended programs and
workshops at Lomax-Hannon Junior College in Greenville, Al., throughout the conference year.
Conference/ District Programs and Projects
I have regularly attended meetings on the Conference and District levels. I co-sponsored a workshop during our
second Mass Meeting. I have faithfully supported programs and projects on all departmental levels of the
WH&OM Society. On each Thursday of the week, I sponsor a Noon-Day Prayer Hour at Greater Little Zion.
Stewardship as Superintendent of Buds
I partnered with the East District Superintendent of Buds, Mrs. Constance Carter to celebrate Marie Clinton’s
Day. The program was uplifting using the theme of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society, “The
Great Commission- A Global Outreach: Personal Calling.” In April, the Buds observed Earth Day. Flower
seeds were planted in and around our communities. In celebration of Juneteenth and Summer Fest, the Buds
enjoyed a fun day filled with games, food and fellowship on the grounds of Mrs. Marva Stanton’s property
better known as the “Ponderosa.” The Buds continue to do their Annual Drive of collecting and delivering
magazines to nursing homes in the community.

It is with joy and humility that I pen this report of my labors and stewardship as the Secretary of Supply for the West
Pensacola District of the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society. I am reminded of a quote by Booker T.
Washington . . . that tells us “success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the
obstacles which he has overcome.” I give God the Glory for the experience and thank Him for reminding me of who I am
and who He is in my life. “LORD, my God, You have done great things: marvelous works and your thoughts toward us. There is no one who
compares to you! I will try to recite your actions, even though there are too many to number”. Psalm 40:5

To my Missionary Sisters of the West Pensacola District, thank you for entrusting me to plan our first Retreat: “A
Renewal of the Mind, Body and Soul.” What better way to join together on one accord to collaborate like minds to do the
assigned work.
For the past seven years, I have served as the Secretary to the Florida Conference. With the confidence and blessings of
the late Bishop James E. McCoy, Mrs. Shirley M. McCoy and the Florida Conference, I was able to launch the Florida
Conference Website. Our site has been a communication tool most notably for our Conference, but also our Episcopal
Area and Community. A monthly leaflet that replicates our web is disseminated to our local churches to be shared with
individuals not technology savvy. On behalf of the West Pensacola WH&OM Society, I am the creator of “Mission
Matters,” our quarterly finger-tip newsletter developed to share our programs, events and information relating to the
WH&OM Society with our local church societies, families and friends.
I continue to support the cause of feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and assisting the homeless. I provide meals for
