HAN When I was a little boy father once wrote these

lines in my autograph book: " Be like a flower in

God's garden and bloom for him alone ."I was six or

seven and didn't understand what it meant.

I remember thinking then that maybe I'd

understand later - when I was a grown up . The

magical journey to when everyone understands

everything. So I carried these lines with me.

Periodically, through childhood, adolescence and

manhood, I've taken these lines out of my heart

and examined them in the light of new knowledge

and in the hope that something would click.

I gradually noticed when I was teenager the

flowers blooming fearlessly without comparison

and no fear of being cut or broken. I noticed the

flight of a bird on wing . The golden sun and the

cool breeze pouring its benediction I then realised

that the flowers and bird are talking with me.

I think that they are the hallway , the tunnel to a

persons insides , where God is. Since then I felt that

someness in every stone , every human every

moments. I understood this the God's garden and

I have to bloom in it sharing the fragrance to

everyone.

With institutional feelings…..

Foreword...Foreword...

Reverend parents, teachers & students,

The spring has set in. Every thing ofthe nature is frisking towards a new change with future in its treasure. Similarly you also are shifting towards a new session after examinations. Every arena of your life, thoughts and studies will be new for new heights to reach. So, is the message of nature and time to change with new goals of life.

This ever changing 'New' feeling is the feeling of spring which we celebrate as festivals. We can't celebrate any thing alone. We need the groups of people from every walk of life. This is unique feature of integrity of the diversity in our culture. The lesson and path of purity and self reliance has been shown by our founding father as an institution Acharyashree Sudarshanji Maharaj, who always inspires us to do new things even by accepting challenge, for the welfare of the humanity.

I not only hope but am sure, that you will show your talents through this issue of your school magazine in your creative write ups and scholarship once again.

Wishing you a happy, new and prosperous new academic session.

yours own!

people gather sticks & straws on a particular

place & then set fire into it in the evening, so

as to memorise the incident that took place

with Prahlad. The next day people enjoy with

colourful waters and In the evening they visit

their friends & neighbours and have lot of

fun. People wear new clothes as well.

Despite being one of the most pious festival,

it has some evils also. Many people are

involved in vulger & cheap activities like

adding harmful colours, abusing others,

singing indecent songs etc. This should not

happen as it the most pious festival.

Hence, being a rational citizen of the

country, we must ensure that the aim of this

festival is to be maintained. Holi also brings

home the idea of removal of distinction on

the basis of caste, creed & gender. It is a

festival that is celebrated with joy and

youthfulness. It generates a new zeal in our

life and behaviour symbolising the spirit of

the spring, which always brings new life in

the whole nature. Holi also teaches us to lead

a life of love, friendship and humanism

forgetting the past bad memories.

— Jyotindra Gunjan, XI, A.S.P.C.S., Patna

Holi is one of the major pious festivals of

the Hindus. It is celebrated with great zeal by the

people of India. It is usually celebrated in the

month of spring for about 3 days. It is considered

as a festival of welcoming spring with lot of colours

& joy. According to the Hindu calendar, it falls on a

full moon day in the phalgun Month. This spring

festival is widely celebrated in the Northern parts

of India & other places of the world by the Hindu

population.

Holi is the most colourful religious festival

of the Hindus. The importance of this festival can

be described by many stories, among which one is

very famous & it is about a great devotee of lord

Vishnu, Prahlad. His father, king Hiranyakashyap,

wanted to get him killed, as he hated the worship

of lord Vishnu. He once decided to burn him, so he

called his sister Holika, who had a magicalrobe

which could save her from burning.

Hiran-kashayap, ordered Holika to sit on

fire with Prahlad in her lap. He thought that her

sister would get no harm because of the robe,

whereas Prahalad would be burn in fire. But

something very surprisingly took place, the king's

sister herself was burnt in the fire and Prahalad

was saved. From this day, it was believed that a

person with god's blessing can never be harmed by

any one. Hence this festival is also celebrated as a

festival of unity and Triumph of good over evil.

It is celebrated with great joy by

distributing sweets among each other, eating

delicious foods, desserts etc. One day before Holi

Nk=kokl dk olarJoy, a three letter word has nothing within

but has the potential of creating everything. It is

an unsurpassed feeling which gives the power to

overcome any obstacle. In today' s world, one

have to remind oneself to be happy. With the busy

schedule many have forgotten how to smile, how

to be happy. Gradually, we are forgetting the

importance of happiness. Where the hundred

times tested medicines fail to cure a patient, these

powerful feelings become the ultimate tool to

bring back life.

In this world, every situation has two aspects

one negative and the other positive. These days it

has become a tendency of almost everyone to

think negative first. We become angry without any

reason now and then. Anger is not strength. It is a

sign to loose control on ourselves. We should try

to divert our mind during anger.

Many a times, we go an extra mile just

thinking about the outcomes of anything. In these

cases, we create negative feeling of panic, fear or

anger. This effects our body. We may go then to

depression, so try to avoid tension and remain

happy.

Happiness is something which does not

reduce when shared but it multiplies. Therefore by

doing small things for others and treating

everyone with humanity we can gain happiness.

Life is a beautiful and precious gift

given by the almighty. It is a carnival which

must be filled with joy and happiness.

To make our life full of joy, the very first

step should be to remove the old belief

'Life is competition'.

Since childhood, students are taught

that life is a race and is compulsory for

them to take part and win it. As a result,

instead of enjoying life and filling it with

happiness, students focus only on the

competition. This belief fills us with fear,

insecurity and creates worryness.

People today have a different mind

set. They think that the only source of their

happiness is money and materialistic

things. But this is not true, money or

materials can not come in between

happiness. Happiness is to be created and

shared with others. We must not allow our

mind to run for materialistic things. We

must have a control over it.

In our busy life, we have forget how to

enjoy the little moments and find

happiness in them. We should find

happiness among our friends, family and

nature.

1. Give yourself enough time to study

Don't leave it until the last minute. While some students do seem to thrive on last-minute 'cramming', it's widely accepted that for most of us, this is not the best way to approach an exam. Set out a timetable for your study. Write down how many exams you have and the days on which you have to sit them. Then organize your study accordingly. You may want to give some exams more study time than others, so find a balance that you feel comfortable with.

2. Practice on old exams

One of the most effective ways to prepare for exams is to practice taking past versions. This helps you get used to the format of the questions, and - if you time yourself - can also be good practice for making sure you spend the right amount of time on each section.

3. Explain your answers to others

Parents and little brothers and sisters don't have to be annoying around exam time! Use them to your advantage. Explain an answer to a question to them. That will help you to get it clear in your head, and also to highlight any areas where you need more work.

4. Organize study groups with friends

Get together with friends for a study session. You may have questions that they have the answers to and vice versa. As long as you make sure you stay focused on the topic for an agreed amount of time, this can be one of the most effective ways to challenge yourself.

5. Take regular breaks

Everyone's different, so develop a study routine that works for you. If you study better in the morning, start early before taking a break at lunchtime. Or if you're more productive at nighttime, take a larger break earlier on so you're ready to settle down come evening.

6. Snack on 'brain food'

Keep away from junk food! You may feel like

you deserve a treat, or that you don't have time to cook, but what you eat can really have an impact on energy levels and focus. Keep your body and brain well-fuelled by choosing nutritious foods that have been proven to aid concentration and memory, such as fish, nuts, seeds, yogurt and blueberries.

7. Plan your exam day

Make sure you get everything ready well in advance of the exam - don't leave it to the day before to suddenly realize you don't know the way, or what you're supposed to bring. Check all the rules and requirements, and plan your route and journey time.

8. Drink plenty of water

As a final tip, remember that being well hydrated is essential for your brain to work at its best. Make sure you keep drinking plenty of water throughout your revision, and also on the exam day.

Reflect upon your own ageism. Do you

think that people who are even only

five years older than you are "really

old"? If so, you're likely to see someone

who is 60 years older than you as

positively fossilized. And that can be

problematic if you fall into the all-too-

easy trap of assuming that older means

out dated, not with it and stuck-in-the-

past.

A lot of assumptions are made about

aging and most of these assump-tions

are unhelpful generali-zations that

prevent connection & knowledge

sharing. Start today by throwing aside

assumptions about people based upon their age. No

matter our age, we are still unique individuals, with the

same range of values, gifts and flaws as any other

person.

• How many older people count as your friends? If

you say none or only your grandparents, think

about why this is.

Are you afraid of connecting with older people? Do

you feel more comfortable with your generalisations

and stereotypes of older people? If so, why?

Start noticing older people around you. Observe what

they're doing and read about their contributions to

society. Many retired people continue to work in their

field, often for free, continuing to contribute to the

greater basket of world knowledge. Others are taking

considerable care of grandchildren or other people's

children through care arrangements in home or at

childcare centres, ensuring that the next generation is

getting the best start possible in life.

Others are rediscovering lost hobbies, roaming the

world, grappling with life's great mysteries and

spending time learning new things that astound them.

Perhaps you'll begin to realise that life renews when

you grow older, new opportunities open up to flourish

anew, to slow down and appreciate what life and the

world have to offer. That's to be admired... and

respected. Be considerate of older people's well-

being. The reality of the human body is that it

deteriorates as we age. Different people age

differently, according to their genes, lifestyle choices

and life's experiences and so you will find some elderly

are much fitter and daredevil than others who are

forced to live with illness or medical conditions. It is

only proper that fit and healthy younger generations

show respect the reality of the human body's growing

frailty in ways that acknowledge the younger person's

ability to cope more easily with certain physical

situations.

Yudhisthira was the name of a poor potter who lived in a certain kingdom.

One night, when he was returning after drinking more than he should, he stumbled and fell over some pots. When he got up, he saw blood was oozing out of his forehead. There was a deep cut due to a broken piece of pot.

Poor that he was, he did not go apply any medicine on his wound, which is the reason that the wound did not heal for a long time. After a long time, the wound finally healed by itself, but it left a big scar on his forehead.

Soon afterwards, there was a famine in the country, and he decided to leave his place and travel to another part of the country. On his way, he joined a group of people, who served at the royal household. Along with them, he started serving at the royal household.

One day, the king noticed the big scar on his forehead and thought, "This man must be a great warrior. The scar on his forehead is evident that he has received such wound in some battle. He must be very brave."

Thus, the king promoted him as a warrior and he was honoured with a place amongst the best warriors of the kingdom.

The other household workers knew that he was no warrior, and became jealous of the fact that the king favoured him, although he did not deserve it rightly.

Soonafter, a battle was impending and the king summoned all his warriors. He wanted to speak to all the great warriors personally and gift them with precious items as an encourage-ment. The king addressed the soldiers with encouraging words and inspected the equipments, and weapons, and even the elephants and horses.

On the other hand, the potter was no real warrior, and he feared going into the battleground. All the preparations for battle made him tense. But he was resolved to prove himself as a warrior in the battleground.

While inspecting, the king noticed the potter. He took him aside and asked, "O Warrior, fighting which battle did you get this deadly scar?"

The potter replied, "O king, this scar was not caused by any wound by any sword. Being a potter by profession myself, my home was full of pots. One night, I tripped after drinking more than I should have, I tripped over them that caused this wound. Due to improper attention, the wound left this big scar."

When the king heard the truth, he felt embarrassed for his earlier decision. He asked his soldiers, "He is a potter, who has deceived me by pretending to be a warrior. Drive him away from the army!"

The potter fell on his knees, and pleaded to the king, "O King, please do not do this. Have mercy on me, for I am sure I will be able to prove my bravery on the battleground. Please give me a chance to prove my worth."

The king replied, "You may have excellent qualities, and you may be brave. But you do not possess the qualities required on the battleground.

When the other warriors will come to know that you are only a potter, they will ridicule you. You will get yourself killed on the battleground! It is better if you leave, and return to your home."

The potter understood the king's advice, and left the palace immediately.
