HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENT
Our upbringing in the harsh
conditions of the North Sea has
taught us the value of respect and
concern for health, safety and the
environment.
Health, safety and the environment
(HSE) is a core value in Qinterra
Technologies. We take personal
responsibility for HSE because we
care about people, the environment
and our company. This is the attitude
at the heart of our culture.
Particular types of activities account
for many of the serious incidents in
our industry. To directly target those
incidents, we have introduced a
series of specific safety measures.
The purpose of these rules is to
prevent injuries and save lives.
We perform interventions in a large
variety of wells all over the world,
but our HSE mindset always remains
the same: every incident can be
prevented.
ENHANCED WELL PERFORMANCE
Our customers are challenged by
depleting reserves, less accessible
reservoirs and increasingly complex
reservoir characteristics.
Our role, as a well service provider,
is to help our customers solve these
challenges. We have been doing so
for more than 30 years.
In Qinterra Technologies we combine
technologies, products, services
and know how to evaluate, plan,
design and execute well intervention
solutions across the life of the field.
OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
Our well intervention services
business is founded on the principles
of quality, and on the reliability of
our people, technology and services.
As we demonstrate on the following
pages, we take pride in taking
responsibility for the job and
maintaining the integrity of your well.
We develop and provide ingenious
solutions to improve operational
efficiency and reduce non-productive
time. Through cross training of
personnel we reduce the amount of
people it takes to perform a job.
We understand the challenges of
your well. We apply the knowledge
and experience we have developed
over 30 years in the well service
business. We utilise our broad well
technologies and asset portfolio
to provide you with an efficient
intervention solution. Our aim is
always to maximise production of
hydrocarbons whilst maintaining well
integrity safely and responsibly.

Horizontal and highly deviated wells are drilled to target
specific pay zones in the oil and gas reservoirs. They
may increase the recovery percentage from onshore and
offshore fields. The ability to drill such wells provides cost
effective means for extracting resources from reservoirs,
that may not otherwise have been economically viable.
Due to the increase in highly deviated and horizontal
wells, there is a need for intervention technologies that
allow for down-hole operations in such wells.
Qinterra Technologies’ response has been to develop a
wireline tractor that can push well intervention equipment
several kilometres along highly deviated and horizontal well
sections. Qinterra Technologies started operating tractors
back in 1996, culminating in the launch of the PowerTrac®
Advance™ in 2003.

Today, the PowerTrac® Advance™ has an outstanding
performance record. It has made a significant contribution
to the reduction of operational cost, compared to the use
of alternative intervention methods. By using wireline
tractors we eliminate the need for more heavily equipped
and costly well interventions. It saves the operator both
time and money, while reducing the risk of damage and
pollution.
In addition, to equipment conveyance, we continue to
develop tractor technology. We are expanding our range
of services, including scale milling, brushing, honing and
tools for removal of debris in the wellbore. Other services,
such as gas-lift valve replacement and shifting of sliding
sleeves in horizontal well sections, are possible using the
PowerTrac® Stroker.

WHY WIRELINE TRACTOR?
Qinterra Technologies has since 1999 tractored more than 8 252 908 m. The Qinterra Technologies in-house developed
tractor – PowerTrac® Advance™ – is powered via a mono-conductor wireline cable and is compatible with a wide range
of third party tools, making it flexible and fit for numerous types of operations. The PowerTrac® Advance™ comes in several
sizes with varying pull force, to suit client’s needs and requests for conveyance in common sized well bores.
In 2009 Qinterra Technologies introduced the PowerTrac® Advance™ 434 open hole tractor – a tractor that is able to
operate in open hole wells and large diameter completions. It also has the capability to reverse in case the cable is
key-seated. In 2010 Qinterra Technologies also introduced logging while tractoring, a ground-breaking new technology
which makes it possible to log in real time, while the tractor is operating, all on mono-conductor wireline.
Although the wireline tractor was originally developed for offshore operations, tractors have now been successfully
deployed in unconventional oil and gas reservoirs, such as shale gas and oil sands. The PowerTrac® Advance™ wireline
tractor has been utilised for years in wells of steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) fields, both during drilling- and the
production phase.

The PowerTrac® Direct Drive Rotation (DDR) is a DC-powered downhole
rotational system based on the PowerTrac® Advance™ motor technology.
When connected under a PowerTrac® Advance™ tractor, the tractor wheel
sections provide a anchoring in the tubing and weight on bit, whilst the
DDR system provide a torque. As a result, a true “milling while tractoring”
functionality is provided for. The DDR offers a number of operational and economic
advantages, including; live well intervention, no heavy lifting, small operational
footprint and the ability to perform vertical and horizontal intervention work
with one “turnkey” equipment package. This, fit for purpose, wireline tractor
rotational equipment expands the operational possibilities on standard mono
conductor cables. Conveying high torque rotation equipment, using wireline
tractors, allows for a range of possibilities, such as; drilling, milling, grinding,
honing, brushing and various types of debris collection. With a milling bit in
front, the DDR can drill through flapper valves, ball valves, plugs, concrete
plugs, scale bridges/areas, glass plugs, composite plugs etc. The overview
from the surface provides the operator full control over the operation.

The PowerTrac® Stroker Shifting Tool(SST) is used in combination with the
PowerTrac® Stroker.
The SST is deployed slick with the shifting dogs retracted into the tool body (centraliser
housing), to ensure that it cannot hang up in well profi les during conveyance. At the
required working depth, the SST is activated and deactivated by the PowerTrac®
Stroker. Completion valves like Schlumberger MFIV or other sleeves can be manipulated
downwards in the same run.
To secure an effective performance, qualifi cation tests are performed before each
operation (in onshore test cells).
The SST systems are as of today qualifi ed to manipulate: Schlumberger MFIV 9-5/8 in
MFIV-II-9X 8.250 X 4.250. (Drift ID 4,205 in). Opening direction is down.
