Student health and wellbeing: Water is the only drink allowed in lessons. It is essential that all students should bring a full bottle of water which they may refill with water from one of the water stations around school. Drinking water regularly is very important to keep hydrated and maximise attention in lessons.

Dudley Children’s Book Award Shortlist School Librarians from across the borough met last week to compile the shortlist for this year’s Dudley Children’s Book Award. The award has been running since 2011 and has been growing steadily, encouraging a love of reading for pleasure. Young people will read the seven titles and then vote for their favourite, the winner being announced at the annual award ceremony which is held at Dormston High School in February 2019. Titles can be borrowed from their school or local Dudley Library. The titles this year are brilliant, with a variety of genres which will encourage students to read more widely. They have until the end of January to do this. To find out more please speak to the Librarians.

Right of the Fortnight: Article 15: Freedom of association. Every child has the right to meet with other children and to join groups and associations, as long as this does not stop other people from enjoying their rights. Here at Windsor we provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities to cater for a range of needs and interests across all years. Through our PSHE programme and The Windsor Way, students recognise that participation in any activity should respect the rights of others. This week we have been looking at the very important issue of Knife crime. Through assemblies and tutor time activities, students have been considering the consequences of knife crime and the choices and actions that youths in particular may make which lead to the many incidents across the UK. Actions such as joining gangs which links to our Right of the Fortnight.
