HISTORY

MiMutual Mortgage, inc. was founDeD in 1992 by brothers Mark anD hale walker in their beloved hometown of Port Huron, Michigan. From its modest beginnings as a mortgage broker in the “attic” of the old JC Penney’s building in the city’s downtown, plenty has changed since then—but by design, plenty has remained the same, such as the commitment to Great People, Building a Great Company, and Serving our Communities.

The Walkers founded their business on commitment and community, and their shared fundamen-tal belief in the importance of professional responsibility and customer service. Don’t go alone! Bring a friend or a family member to provide a second opinion and serve

as another pair of eyes. Take lots of pictures! This will help you make a decision later and

compare different properties.

Don’t make any large purchases 3-6 months before closing on your home. Show lenders

you are reliable and protect your credit!

Make a wish list of what you want in your new home. No home is going to be 100% what

you want.

Thinking about buying a condo or townhome? Newer condos will tend to be smaller - often

one bedroom - while older units will have more space. Middle units are less expensive than

end units. The closer you are to a city’s central areas, the higher cost per square foot.

Trying to anticipate the housing market is impossible. The best time to buy is when you find

your perfect house and you can afford it. Real estate is cyclical, it goes up and it goes

down and it goes back up again.

Think about your commute. What is the proximity to your place of work? Will you be stuck

in traffic every morning?

Decide on your neighborhood. Think about the neighborhood not now, but five years from

now. You may not want kids just yet, but eventually schools will become something that you

think about. Neighborhoods that are close to areas of rapid development may also be a

deal breaker.
