Demographic group and Age rating

The primary audience we have chosen our film opening for is teenagers, mostly directed at females as all the cast are girls but can still be suitable to males. I think it would be most popular for teenagers who can relate to the main character, Aubrey, as she is a rebellious teen who objects against her mothers strict views.

The use of alcohol and drugs in the film opening makes our film only suitable for 15+.

Psychographic factors and Audience feedback

We tried to include aspects similar to other popular films such as Juno, The Fault in Our Stars, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl and LOL. Something that all of these films have in common are the kind of problems teenagers face throughout their life at home/school.

From our audience feedback it has shown that the song choices attract a wider audience. The first song is Naïve by The Kooks karaoke and the second is I Kissed A Girl instrumental this is because these songs are quite popular with many teenagers. The audience who watched our film opening was a variety of ages, the age group who gave the most positive feedback and it was most popular with was teenagers as we presumed from the start.

We also created a questionnaire for our target audience where we could see what types of movies they most enjoyed and take aspects from those films and make ours similar.

Secondary Audiences

The secondary audience which our film opening may appeal to are possibly an older generation who can relate to Carol Herrington (mother). It would reach this audience as their own children may be maturing and acting disobedient and not respecting parental rules.

In my opinion something that I think could be improved in the film opening is the transitions between shots could be smoother. Also possibly more dialogue between the mother and daughter could reveal more reasons why Aubrey must leave.
